New York.. Oct. (!. Renewed ef-
forts wore nimle by the police to

boy wan llrst missed by bin parent
just two weeks ago. At llrst the
police were disinclined to believe thht

but the several letters which have
been received by the parents apparent-
ly have convinced them and many de-
tectives were nt work on the cane
today. They say the boy Ik probably
held a prisoner somewhere on Man-

NEGRO WANTS A PENSION.
Served In Confederate Army and Was
Kicked by Horse.
Austin Tox.. Oct. 7 The controller
today received a unique- letter whlcu
lie referred to the pension division
of his department as It related to
pensions. U was rrom a negro ol
Travis county who wants a confed
erate pension stating that he had
served In the confederate army and
also stated that ho had suffered
wounds and was now "ageablc" for n
pension. A llttlo further down In
tbo letter It transpired that the old
darky had shod horses In the confed-
erate cavalry and that his wounds
consisted of having been kicked by
the beasts. Probably the most re-
markable part of the lotter was tbo
old man's reference to his age. Ho
states that ho Is 103 years and two
months old. This he calls "ageable."
The pension division nas many cur-
ious letters referred to It. but. this
one from the old darky is one ff
tbo most peculiar.
