Chickasaw and Choctaw Tribes Make
Appropriation for Publication.
In tho closing days ot the legislature
of the Choctaw and Chickasaw nations
these bodies nro giving somo atten-
tion to a correct history of their
tribes. Tho councils last year made
such a provision but tho bill was so
Indefinite that tho presldont refused
to affirm ILAho Choctaw council has
this year appropriated $14152 to pay
for the compiling nnd publishing a
history and a bill carrying tho same
amount has passed tho lower houso of
tho Chickasaw council and will bo
brought before tho senato Monday
with ovory assurance of Its passage.

ing tho history. Tho publishing com-
pany will receive $28301 and will give
a copy of tho history to every Chicka-
saw and Choctaw family.

Choctaw Council Passes BUI and Ap-
propriation. The Choctaw council has passed a
bill providing for the establishment ot
a home for the aged and Infirm Choc-
taws. For this purpose $100.00u and
1700 acres of land has beon appro-
priated. The Chickasaw legislature
will take the matter up Monday next
according to the advice of some half
dozen senators who were here yester-
day the Chlcknsaws will appropriate
the same amount of money nnd will
ratify tho appropriation of land.
