tho BOnato today and Mr. Stone spoke
for two hours In opposition to It.
Whon tho joint statehood hill was
t nken up Mr. Stone addressed hltnsoir
especially to tho landed interests of
tho IndlanH In Indian Territory. Ho
proposed an amendment provdilng
that allotted lands shall bo subject
to taxation. Ho said that lr all tho
Indian lands arc to he relieved of tax-
ation for twenty-one years as propos-
ed the state treasury would bo seri-
ously embarrassed. Unless tho state
was to bo given tlio means of self-support
Mr. Stono contended It Bhould he
kept In n state of vassalage as It now

dent the electrician saw him hanging
