Many Are In a Pack.
Denlson. Tex. Feb. 18. Gus J.
Meodwlller a farmer from Herman
Mo. was fleeced out of $36 by two
strangers at a hotel this afternoon.
Mr. Weadwiiler was standing on the
depot platform and near him stood a
wol! dressed stranger when a negro
came up and offered to sell the stran-
ger a pack of cards. After examining
the cards the stranger said
tho pack was one card short whleh
caused some dlsputo and attracted
STr. Mendwlller's attention.
The negro offered to bet the stran
ger $S( that be deck contented it full
quota of cards and produced $36 In
greenbacks The unknown man bor-
rowed $36 from Mr. Mendwlller. pro
ducing a $200 check and allowing Mr.
Mendwlller to count the cards which
ha did finding it a full deck. The ne
gro took the money and left. The
white man went to get his check cash
ed and has not been seen since. Offi
cers ore on the lookout for both of
them.
