Herbert Shaoklett a stable hoy
formo-ly in tho family's employ
who afterwards shot himself
through the heart.
Tho dead young ludy was woll
known in Guthrie hnving visit-
ed Miss Ethol McNent during
the past wintor.
The Boors live in a suburbau
homo about a milo west of New-
ton. The girl came to town
Saturday night to attend a party
and started to drivo homo alone
about 10 o'clock. When sho did
not nrrivo her mothor who was
alono becamo alarmed and noti
fied tho police About midniirht
a searching party was organized
and at 5 o'clock Sunday morn-
ing tho dead bodies of tho girl
and her slayor were found
about three miles west of this
city.
Four bullets had been fired in
to tho body of the girl three of
them in the head and one in tho
abdomen. Ono shot sufficed to
end tho life of tho murdoror as
the bullot penetrated the heart.
Shacklott was at ono titno em-
ployed at tho homo of tho Beers
as a groom and it is said be-
came fascinated with tho young
lady who did not in any way
return his infatuation.
Ho resigned his position there
so mo tlmo ago and has since
worked at many places about
tho city. Saturday ho was cm-
ployed in a livery stablo here.
