This morning at 9tlG o'clock
the Judco walked into court nnd
the first thing done was tho sen
tencing of eighteen prisoners who
had been brought into court prior
to its opening. They were brought
up in a bunch. Capt. Hammer
had n closo eyo on Jesse Tate who
cot nwov from him nt tho last
term while they wcro being re
I turned to jail.
The first prisoner called was
' F. M. Partridge who wits indicted
for murder but convicted for man
laughter Tho court let him off
lightly only giving him ono year
ml one day in the peniteutiary
and imposing it tine of $100.

seutenco of any of them. He hnd
been convicted iu two cases ono
for larceny of cattle for which the
court said flvo yearn would be n
list punishment and ngniu for
manslaughter. For the latter of
fense ho will have to remain ten
years lu the penitentiary after (its
first terra expires making fifteen
years of hard Inbor and pay $100.
Joe 'Jackson couvicted of false
pretense was given oue year and
one day.
Philip Jackson for tho same of-
fen to was also given ono year and
one day.
W. A. Worthnm convicted of
manslaughter was sentenced to
ten years aud pay n flue of $100.
Lawrence Welch convicted of
tho larceny of cattle was given
three years.
Beuder Hcnson was called He
was indicted for murder and tried
and found guilty of manslaughter.
II. M. Furman aud A. C Crucc
here made a motion fur a new trial
whioh the court overruled. They
then appealed the case to tho court
at South JIcAlester ami were
given ninety days in which to file
their bill of exceptions. Tho court
thou prouounced sentence ou the
prisoner giving him ten years nnd
$100.
Jesse Tate was call to nnswer to
the chnrgc of assault to kill. The
court let him off light flvo years
nt Fort Leavenworth.
Clarence Hendrix larceny of a
saddle. The defendant's lawyers
tried to get him off with n jail
scutence claiming that tho saddle
was not worth ten dollars. Their
proof vaj not suQleient to change
the court nnd it was his opinion
that one year and one day in the
penitentiary would make n better
mnu of him.
L. B. Brown convicted of steal-
ing $100 from Sidney Suggs'
house was sentenced to three
years at hard labor.
Jim tiilmore larceny of cottou
was sentenced to one year and one
day.
J Jim Cobb for throwing missiles
into a passenger coach was given
on year and one day.
Linsie Iteeves convioted for tho
samo oftense as uobi was also
given one year and one day.
A. J. Forbes who had pleaded
guilty to embezzlement was pen-
teuced to one 5 ear aud six months.
Lish West larceny of cattle
had pleaded guilty and received
two years.
Curtis McElreath Jerry Crisp
and Will JlcCanliss who were all
guilty ot stcaliug a horse and had
been before the court and pleaded
guilty were let of lightly the
court only giving them five years
each.
