Bullet Hole in Hunt's Head
Which Was Beaten to
a Pulp.

Miami I. T. Sept. 28. The dead
body of Louis F. Hunt was found yes-
terday eight miles north of here In
au old well. There was a large bullet
hole in the back of his head which
had been beaten almost to a pulp.
Hunt left home three miles east of
where the body was found last Tues-
day morning to go to Centralia. fif
teen miles west. The supposition is
that the body was brought down the
river In a boat and carried to the
well which is only about 100 feet
from the river bank. The body had
been stripped of everything but the
underclothing. Hunt was the sole
witnesi in some cattle stealing cases
to be called next Monday lie leaves
a widowed mother and one sister and

with both dynamite and a quantity
of inllamable oil was thrown at the
rear of a crowded tenement house at
Eighth avenue and 143rd. street early
today.
More than a score of sleeping per
sons were hurled from their teds and
two of them were carried from the
house unconscious.
The police believe that the "Black
Hand" Italian assassins threw the
