Misses Cora Key9 and Delia Gordon
of the college leave tomorrow for
their home at Xowata.

cery salesman to Hayden Ruby and
other points iu that section.
The annual colored Odd Fellow-
celebration occurs at Parsons May 7
for which event the M. K. & T. will
sell round trip tickets at f 1.25. -
J. F. Warren's cows sold at 3. TO

not much but amounts to something
like ten or eleven dollars on a cow.
Dangerous Feat.
After this morning's train had
passed the crossings tramp ran up
and catching the truss rods swung
under the mail car and found a place
t o ride.

John Harlan returned from his
home near Southwest City today. He
reports his father Osc Harlan as
having been quite sick but now im
proving.
Fish Fry.
Several wagon loads of colored peo-
ple had a fish fry on Pawpaw yester-
day. Having a trammel net they were
able to get tish. whether they would
bite or not.
House Movers.
Attention is called to the advertise-
ment of Suggs & Hicks professional
house movers Tryor Creek. They
have a good outfit and want to get
some business in Vinita.
Hunting Trouble.
Geo. D. Blakey has been in our town
some days looking up a location for a
newspaper plant. He will go to Tulsa
tomorrow to see what the prospects
are at that thriving town.
Farmer Berry.
Jim Berry is the boss gardener and
chickeu raiser. He has the finest
looking garden we have seen; and a
fine chance oT chicks ranging in age
from one dav to three weeks.
To Take the Strikers' Places.
A car of negroes to take the place of
the striking miners at Krebs were
brought iuon the Frisco some days
since and taken south the car being
attached to a Katy freight train.
Who Is It?
It is reported that some resident of
Vinita ha9 purchased the Kulla Inla
or Choctaw building at South M
Alester for $15000 and further that
he has already been offered $5000 for
his bargain;
Good Wheat.
Gaither Chandler returned a day or
two ago from his Duck creek farm and
says he has two hundred acres of as
fine wheat as be ever saw. The bal
ance of his crop however Is badly
damaged by freezing.
Wife and Daughter Killed.
W. W. Green a traveling man got
word at this place last evening that
his wife and daughter were killed the
night before in the Klrksville cyclone
He left on the bight train for the
scene of the disaster. .

south bound at 10:14 a. m north
bound 6:42 p. m. They are numbered
5 and 6 as formerly. As will be ob

Liveryman Byrd tent a hack to Af-
ton yesterday driven by John Weir.
As the roads are bad In places Mr.
Byrd thinks it not improbable that
the rig got hung up in 11 mud hole.
fir. Landrum Dead.
Tbe widow of the late Judge H. T.
Landrum died at her home near Ca-
rey's ferry last Sunday and was buried
at the Dave Landrum cemetery south
of town Monday beside her husband.
Convenes Tuesday.
The territorial grand lodge Knights
of Pythias convenes in Vinita next
Tuesday morning for a two days' ses-
sion. A banquet w ill be one of tne
enjoyable features Tuesday evening.
Child Broke Its Arm.
Blake Gore and wife drove down
from Bluejacket this morning and
just after the train had gone north
received a dispatch stating that their
little girl four years of age had fall-
en" and broken her arm. They started
for home as soon as possible.
Saddle Pony Dead.
Oscar Cari of Siloam Springs the
little son of Dr. S;un Carl of that
plac? lost his saddled pony yesterday
in this city with something like colic.
It was a very tine saddle animal and
its loss will be keenly felt by the bey.
On the way up it was allowed to get
to the grass which seemed to disagree
with it.
