Col. Robert L. Owen is out in a
ri"4gthy article in the FortGibBon
Popt urging the Cherokees to rati-
fy the treaty. If Bob is for it it
is safe to say that it is as full of
schemes as a porus planter.
Chief Buffington is being gen-
erally chided for bis appointment
of Hoolie Bellas principal attorn-
ey for the Cherokee nation in en-
. ling freedmen. Hoolie Bell
may be honeet honorable and
loyal to the Cherokee but there
are few who believe it. His open
declaration a few years go while
a member of the council that be
could secure passage of citizen-
ship cases for to much money arid
as to Mr. Bell's ability and knowl-
edge and this fact gives the citi
zens additional fear. With Hoolie
Bell for the Cberokees and Bob
Kerns for the freedmen the aver-
age citizen will not be surprised
if another batch of Kansas negroes
are admitted to citizenship. 'Tis
pity 'tis true. Claremore Messenger.
Wheat Brothers for several years

Pryor Creek where they have erected
a nice carpenter shop. Also one of
the boys has opened up a meat mar
ket there.

tions in .a case involving about $8000
in the settlement of a partnership in
the stock business that has existed
between the two men for several
years. Mr. Poole is represented by
J. L. Turner and Mr. Arnott by W.
JI. Kornegay.
