ests. Miss Anna Gatewood went to Afton
last night to enjoy the music at the
recital.

is here for a visit with his daughter

j. C. Carter and son of Frankfort
Ind. are in the city looking for farm
land to purchase.
The Parker-Wise Investment com-
pany will move tonight to their new
locatio nin the Farmers State bank.
The Leavitt Land company will oc-
cupy the space in the Thompson stone
building vacated by the Parker-Wise
Investment company.
The "play house" being erected by
Judge Parker on the Patton farm is
nearing completion. An artesian w!l
was started yesterday.
M. B. Rich returned last night from
Gentry Ark. where he says great ex-
citement prevails over the failure of
the bank at that place.
About twelve or thirteen couples of
young people enjoyed the Cherokee
Social Club dance at the ball over the
Grand Theatre last night.

and Louis Hill Eunice Williams Mil-
dred Deck Louis Davis and numerous
other Vinitans attended the recital last
night at Afton.
The services at the Catholic church
tomorrow morning will be at 10:30.
Father Brannan will preach. No Cath-
olic should miss that service. All oth-
ers are kindly invited.
Rev. Barney will preach tomorrow
in the Baptist church at 11 a. m. on
the subject "A Few Hard Nuts
Cracked." The ordinance of the
Lord's Supper will be administered.
Mrs. Mary Shelton of Vinita was
awarded first prize for landscape paint-
ing by the State Federation of Wo-
men's Clubs. Just another indication
that Oklahoma is developing a ooa
siderabie art colony.
While asleep a news butch named
McGregor walked off the early morn-
ing southbound Katy passenger train
this morning. He was found later
lying asleep beside the track and was
uninjured by the fall.
There was a report on the streets
here today that there had been a ser-
ious shooting affray at Pryor but a
phone call to the editor of the Clipper
at that place brought the information
that the rumor was false.
Mrs. Heber Skinner was hostess yes-
terday afternoon to the ladies of the
Friday Bridge Club. This meeting was
the first since the summer stopped the
meetings and the club was reorganiz-
ed. Miss Bertha Thomason made hig'j
score. A delicious luncheon was serv-
ed during the afternoon.
Some one entered an out hon;-;e of
Judge Preston S. Davis lately and
carried away a lot of lumber even
taking the loft out of the building.
This sort of thieving is too prevalent
in Vinita. Some person or persons
will find themselves in serious troulle
if this kind of tning is not stopped.
More than 22.000000 accidents are
reported each year. Hundreds of thou-
sands of others are never reported
but every time the clock ticks every
working hour the Continental Casual-
ty Company pays a dime to somebody
somewhere who is sick or hurt. "See

one welcome. Seats free.
