Getting jarred Is in plain language
the latest cure for seasickness. The
method is described in the Technical
World which asserts that success hat
attended the trials of the new device.
The apparatus which 1b of German
invention Is very simple. It is merely
a comfortable chair the seat of which
is set rapidly vibrating up and down
by the force of an electrometer con-
nected to the electric lighting wires ol
tiie steamer.
Those wishing to prevent an attack
of seasickness sit down on the vibrat-
ing chair. They have about the same
sensation as in riding in an automo-
bile. The vibratory motion makes the
rolling and pitching of the ship less
felt the slow downward motion of the
vessel being counteracted by the
numerous short vibratory shocks oc-
curring in an upward direction.

Bit of Biography.
It would be impossible to tell with-
in the limits of a short sketch how
John G. Shockafeller got his money.
Furthermore it wouldn't be polite.
Enough that he got so much that he
founded a university In a western
town and has since Indulged largely In
the dissipation of feeding the institu-
tion. Almost at the same time John O.
Shockafeller became recogniied as a

I of such sous with such sons the ulti-
' mate resource and bulwark of our de
fence with commonwealths of homes
and families like that in Oklahoma
the nation is secure.
My friends I cannot bring myself
to close without paying a passing
tribute of reverence and respect to
the memory of my dead comrades
some of whom went forth from this
city to die on the Held of battle in de-
fence of the nation's hoi t. Tonight
they come back to my mind and I can
see them in their weary march the
long delay the going into battle the
victory of their surviving comrads
the sadness of farewell untaken torn
ruthlessly from us and sent down to
willing death in sacred allegiance to
their comrades and their country.
Honor and blessing attend their
memory. The battles of that eventful
war though few in number and now
experiences of the past still are
secure in their results and sacred in
our memory. Troop L of the First
Volunteer United States Cavalery
was organized here under the com-
mand of Captain Allyn Capron with
Richard Day as Second Lieutenant.
These two gallant soldiers will greet
us on earth no more forever.
Richard Day though severely
wounded early in the battle at San
Juan Hill with arm in sling led his
troop until the battle was over.
You well know that later continuing
his service as a soldier he gave up his
life in the Philllppines as a result of
the wound at Jan Juan Hill and the
hardship of his Phillipine campaign.
1 knew him well. He was a gallant
soldier.
Tom Isbell another Vinita soldier
was shot and wounded seven times in
the light at Las Guasimas. "Billy"
Simms too was thereand prcvednim-
self a thorough soldier in every action.
Still others there were loya) soldiers
all. Blessings on those who still live.
Honor be upon those dead. They will
live forever.
Finally gentlemen of the the Com-
mercial Club of Vinita. 1 wish to re-
mind you and ask you never to forget
that the building of all cities depends
ultimately upon the day laborer
whether in the Held at the forge at
the bench or in the street. Each has
his place in the make-up of society no
less Important than that of the great-
est captain of industry.
After the governor had concluded
tiis speech he held an informal recep-
tion the members of the tclub being
introduced to him by W. M. Simms
one of the govenor's Rough Rider
comrades. Cigars and lemonade were
served toall present. Music was furn-
ished by Hunt's orchestra composed
of Nat and Joe Hunt and Tom Walk
er. These young
volunteered their service to the club
and their interest in thus assisting
the work Is certainly appreciated by
all the members and all who have
heard their playing. A quartet com-
posed of Messrs Smiley Bebout. Heard
ami James sang two delightful select-
ions. It was after eleven when the recep-
tiou came to an enu and the governor
was taken to the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Darrough for the night.
Frcm 9 until 12 o'clock Sunday
mori.ing the governor received inform
ally at tne nonie oi Mr. narrougn
the Rough Riders. His greeting to
each was very cordial and during the
ourse of his conversation he express
ed himself as delighted with way the
people had welcomed him and said:
Vinita is the most beautiful town in
the two territories.
The governor took luncheon
and spent t lie arternoon at tne nome
of Mr. and M re. Chas. A. Davidson.
Other at u cats were Mr. and Mrs. W.
E. Halsell Mr. and Mrs J. W. Orr
ana Judge Joseph A. (iii.

Have YOU ever been in CHICAGO?
'f so you know the extremely convenient location of La Salie Street Station.
I you are a atranger in the city however it is of great importance that you learn about this magnificent and
comparatively new terminal used jointly by Rock Island-Frisco Lines C. R. I. & P. Ry. and 0. & E. I. R. R.
It is nearest the heart of the cily closely adjoining the business section within easy walking distance of State
Street shopping center and all the principal hotels.
Another advantage of entering the city through La Salle Street Station is the second-story viaduct directly connecting
the main waiting-room with the Elevated Railroad loop you can reach the North Northwest West or South
sides of the city by elevated trains (or a five cent fare without descending to the street. You thus avoid the
dangers and delays of the great crowded city.
Die Rock Island right-of-way into Chicago is elevated for more than eight miles out through the suburbs. Prompt
arrival at Chicago terminal is thus assured. Englewood Union Station seven miles out affords ready acceas to
