laundry had the "misforune to break
several bones in his right hard.
The ladies of the North Parle Im
provement association will meet to
morrow afternoon at the home of Mrs.
J. H. Wimer. A full attendance is de-
sired. The Scottish Rite Masons of Vinita
met last right at the office of O L.
Conner and decided to accept the in-
vitation of the Miami order to cele-
brate Maunday Thursday at Miami.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Leforce desire
to express their thanks to the friends
and neighbors for many acts of kind-
ness and help during the sickness and
at the death of Mr. Leforce's father.
The Star having bought th Kalsell
building next to the court house the
Cherokee Investment company will
move within a day or two to the
Jones-Bagby building where they have
taken a five year lease on offices.
Marriage licenses were issued today
to W. A. Luckenbill aged 29 and Miss
Bertris MvCoy aged 16 of Ketchum
and to Carl Llns aged 26 of Sapulpa
and Miss May Smith aged 21 of Af-
ton. To the latter application for li-
cense was pinned the following note:
'Mr. Carl Llns a well known business
man of St. Joseph Mo. who is to
marry Miss May Smith of Afton is
now in the grocery business at Sapul-
pa Okla. and has lots of friends.
Al Alleger of Joplin who Is to fight
Jack O'Leary here Friday nigin ar-
rived in Vinita this morning .uid will
work out at the Vinita Athletic Clu'o
rooms today and tomorrow. A free
exhibition to all who wish to see this
clever fighter in action.
The Vinita Building & Loan associa-
tion held its annual stockholders
meeting at the Cherokee Nation.il
bank last night. Harry Bagby B. A.
McFarland Herman Bear and Geo. E.
Harris were elected members of the
board of directors. The association
declared a dividend of twelve per cent
and set aside three per cent to the
surplus fund. '
Colonel Buffington Commissioned.
Last night at the Elks Club rooms
Colonel T. M. Buffington was present-
ed his commission as colonel in the
state militia. The honor was conferred
by Chief Justice John B. Turner of
the state supYeme court. The affair
was made notable by a social gather-
ing which followed the presentation.
Speeches bubbling over with good-
fellowship were made by Judge Tur-
ner Judge Davis E. R. Stephens Sey-
mour Riddle and others.
