The discontinuance of "open
ings" by the merchants i8 a wise
'move. There is no reason why
they should be continued except
precedent which is sometimes a
very good thing to abandon.
The citizens ot tbe Cherokee
Nation are in the proper frame oi

Tbe mineral resources of thB
Cherokee nation will be proven
soon after allotment and they
give promise of great value.
While mining is a most specula-
tive enterprise yet there is every
Indication that this 'section is
rich in the baer metals.
There is every reason to be-
lieve that the Cherokee rolls will
be finally completed by January
1st. The land office will then be
opened for the filing on allotments
and the Cherokee nation will forge
rapidly to the fore as one of the
richest productive sec lions in the
union.

Roosevelt led the Seventh United
Cavalry in a "sharp trot'for a
mile and a half over the battle
field of Chickamagua Sunday and
set such a hot pace that several
troopers were unhorsed. There is
either a liar who deserves killing

need of calvalrymen.
Beware of the Knife.
No profession has advanced more
rapidly of late than surgery but it

solutely necessary. In cases of piles
for example it is seldom needed. De-

ly and permanently. Unequalled for
cuts burns bruises wounds skin
disease. Accept no counterfeits.
