Trsday VINITA OKLA. March 14
FOR THE GOOD OP VINITA
The Chieftain does not hesitate to say that it
Is unqualifiedly in favor of a non-partisan ticket
for the city election The work inaugurated by
the present city council is too important to be
exposed to the danger of an election. If there
is a Republican ticket it will as all Republican
tickets are be composed of progressive citizens
and it ought to win as the past two tickets have.
But however good a ticket the Republicans
might nominate there would always remain the
possibility of defeat. The Democratic ticket will
be composed of the non-progressive element.and
yet if a straight-out contest between the two
parties occurs many progressive Democrats will
vote with the "knockers" fearing if they vote
agaist the ticket to be classed as "traitors."
publicans would sweep mo mini r
trressive ticket off it feet and give Vinita an
dministration that would guarantee the fulfill-
ment of the many improvement works that are
now just being commenced.
The Republican party has always claimed to
be the party of progress in Vinita and it has
abundantly justified that proud boast in the past.
The Chieftain believes it will do so again this
spring and will sink partisanship in order to
make absolutely certain the election of a ticket
composed of men who will be pledged to the
making of a bigger and better Vinita.
Needless to say however if for any cause
it proves impossible to secure a non-partisan
ticket The Chieftain will be found fighting tooth
and toe-nail for the Republican ticket. The
Democratic ticket has already been nominated
in the Vinita National bank and everyone knows
what that means as far as improvements are
concerned.
