FAST SERVICE
On Frisco System was In-
augurated with Iterest-
ing Ceremonies Yesterday.
TWO NEW TRAINS
Arrive in Vinita on Time After
Cutting Several Hours From
Old Schedule to Kastern
and Southwestern
Points.
At exactly 12.33 this morning
the World's Fair Special" which
had been speeding from Texas on
its initial run came to a top at
the Frisco nation.
At 1:27 a. m. the "Meteor" the
new west bound time annihilator
came rushing in from the east on
time to the minute and the new
last train service on the Frisco
system had become a definite
factor in Vinita's communication
with eastern and western point?.
The new service was inaugurated
with interesting ceremonies at
loth ends of the great system.
Prominent officials of the road
and a large assemblage cf people
were present when the throttles
responded to the touch of the en
gineers and the ponderous wheels
that were destined to cut hour
from the old running time rapidly
gathered epeed and were soon
ru?hingover the rails in their race
cgaint lime.
At cr.e minute p? s 12 o'clock
the new time card published in
another column of the Chieftain
took effect on the entire Frisco
system. The Frisco with the
opening of the new line now baa
two entirely separate tracks to
Texas and baa become a danger-
ous factor in the greal shipping
resources of the Lone Stai state.
By the new service Vinita re
ceives an additional east and west
bound train and is put in very
close communication with all east
ern and southwestern points.
With this additional service six-
teen passenger trains on the two
roads run cut ot Vinita each day
which is a suggestive commentary
on the gr. wing importance of the
town.

which was purchased by C. E.
Turner and Erne6t Cook of Mus-
kogee to carry freight between
Fort Gibson and Choska has ar-
rived at Fort Smith from Cairo

The vessel was over nine months
en route.
The arrival of the boat has oc
casioned a great deal of discussion
among the river men many con-
tending that it can be run only
about two weeks during the year.
The barge is in command of
Capt. W. F. Cotton who years
ago run a boat between Fort
Gibson and Little Rock and who
is confident that the present ven-
ture will be a euccess.
