Iiartlesville !
Now tlie mecea for men who
lieve more in grease than grace.
Truly there lias come a wonderful
transformat ion to this erst while little
village but now a full-Hedged city.
The scent of oil is in the air every-
where; 'the towering derricks are to
be seen rearing their heads on every
J land. The hum of business is about
the only music to be beard and it is
sweet to the inhabitants. From all
parts of the United States are gath-
ered a host of keen business men
most of whom are up to their necks in
oil already. The secretary of the in-
terior cannot approve leases fast-
enough for the derrick builders and
the spirit of impatience is prevalent
all over this oil tield. The ordinary
amateur oil man is a back number
here and stands little show in ob-
taining the Ifat leases. The profes-
sional with a big bank account is in
the lead.
X have met more lineal descendants
of Saint Ananias here than anywhere
else in all my extended travels. In-
deed they can outlie 10 to 1 their
ancient forbear. Conscience hits
taken a back seat a way back and
one would bo easily pessimistic about
the statements of his grandmother if
it came to an oil deal. Oil ! Oil ! Oil !
You hear nothing but oil; even the

self. I am told by the few credible
people here that the fish actually j

Bartlesville is a wonder!
It is the dirtiest city in the Indian
' Territory. It i a miracle the people
are not all down with typhus fever or
the bubonic plague. The board of
health here is almost on a par with
that of the Queen City of the Chero-
kee Nation. They have lost their
sense of smell evidently or there
would be a hygienic revolution. In
this sweltering weather you hear the
inhabitants discussing and cussing t he

several months under professional

were of no avail and I was gradually
becoming worse my face wag dread-

hair. At last my wife prevailed upon
me to try the Cnticura Kemedies and I
gave them a thorough trial with the
most satisfactory results. The disease
soon began to disappear and my hair
commenced to grow again. A fresh
growth of hair is covering my head
and my limb (although not yet quite
