Vinita Oklahoma. Saturday July 23.
Don't fail to bear Senator Tom
Gore tonight on the most Important
Issue In this campaign.
O .'
No C G. Jones clubs have been or-
ganized In Vinita yet. Mr. Jones talk-
ed too much before the 11th of June.
O
From present Indications there will
be a large registration of voters In
Vinita. There Is another full week be-
fore the registration closes. Let every
voter register.
. . o
If a majority of tho qualified voters
of this state vote to adopt the "grand-
father clause" to the constitution It
will be adopted and having been
adopted will be the law until declared
void by the highest court In the
United States.
O -
Jim Davenport will be the demo-
cratic nominee for congress from this
district unless some unforeseen turn
in affairs takes place. Now is the
time to get behind Jim and see that
his majority Is large. The district
ought to be carried for the democracy
this year and with the adoption of the
"grandfather clause" will be.
Two classes o people will vote for
prohibition: The prohibition people
and the bootlegger. The prohibition-
ists will vote for it because he is a
prohibitionist and because he believes
in it and the bootlegger will vote for
it because he cnn make more money
under the present system than he
could with open saloons. With open
sajoons he would have to pay license
and obey the law but now he buys a
cheap grade of goods sells them at
high prices and pays no license. Ok-
lahoma City Times.
O
If the present freight and passen-
ger rate system the system introduc-
ed since tho Hook decisions is ever
to be changed it must be changed by
democratic legislation. Tho clouds of
the last Judgment will darken before
a republican administration would re-
duce a freight rate.
The republican organization spell-
binders and journals have distribut-
ed tons of matter written and oral
wherein they attack the alleged
"wasteful extravagance" of the Has-
kell administration. Of course they
have no space to discuss the economy
of the administration. But for the
sake of fairness will they please to
note the following facts found in the
state records:
1. By a Judicious exercise of the
veto pt.wer the governor reduced the
appropriations of the first legislature
$522263. The records show that four-
fifths of the republican legislators
voted for the larger appropriation. "
2. By the same veto power the gov-
ernor reduced the appropriations of
the second legislature $511154. The
records show that four-fifths of the
republican legislators voted for the
larger appropriations.
3. By a judicious exercise of the
veto power the governor since state-
hood has reduced legislative appro-
priations $1033417. Four-fifths of the
republican legislators voted in every
case in favor of the larger appropriation.

t ors than all other banks in the city combined.
We have always paid special attention to thisfpar-
ticular feature of banking which accounts for our
success. It might surprise you to know how many
children carry accounts with us.

A NEGRO'S VIEWPOINT.
The Western Age one of the lead-
ing negro papers of the state discuss-
ing the grandfather clause says:
"Now that It seems certain that the
'grandfather clause' will be voted on
at the August primaries with an excel-
lent chance of being carried November
8 let the colored portion of the Ok-
lahoma citizenship get busy along ed-
ucational lines and make the supppsed
nefarious clause a source of great
good to the race.
"There is but little to be accom-
plished by complaining against the
measure but much can be gained and
in fact the operation of the clause
made .ineffective within a few years
by hard and persistent study.
"The race needs something to stim-
ulate its desire for education. Every
boy and girl 'should have a certain
amount of learning and if it takes tha
'grandfather clause' to produce it then
let's have the 'grandfather clause.'
' Work more study harder think
more about the acquisition of means
of substantial existence. Talk fewer
politics be less ardent republicans
and after you shall have acquired the
results of these things there will be
no necessity for a 'grandfather clause'
but if it 6hould then be in- existence
it will not affect you."

Presbyterian Church.
Because of the absence of the pas-
tor there will be no preaching serv-
ices tomorrow. Our Sabbath school
and Christian Endeavor will meet as
usual. Both these organizations are
growing and are a great benefit to the
church and community. It is the pur-
pose of our young people to assist
each other and to be of service in the
community as well as in the church.
We cordially invite you to attend all
these services.
