population of Vinita a sewer sys-
tem will soon be an imperative
necessity.
The townsite commission ia dis-

speed that indicates that Vinita
will be completed within the pres-
ent year.
One heavy rain would effectually

which are coming to Vinita every
day. The incident loss of busi-
ness would represent an amount
that would bridge any one of the
neighboring streams.
The national council will meet
in regular elusion on the third day
of November two weeks from next
Monday. It is ssid that the prin-
cipal chief will in his annual mes-
sage recommend a supplemental
treaty providing for the disposi-
tion of surplus land and tribal
funds.
Any one of the whroq roads lead-
ing into Vinita. if placed in proper
repair would be of more benefit to particulars

ing point of a rich territory and
as the agricultural and other re-
sources are developed this city
will soon become an important
jobbing point. There ia no town
in the Territory which occupies a
more favorable location for com-
mercial enterprise than the Qijr
City. ..
A great many people are asking
if it is safe to lease Cherokee allot-
ments at the present time. Our
answer is unquali6edly that they
cannot do so' legally. As soon as
a Cherokee files on his allotment
be has the privilege of leasing it
for five years for agricultural pur-
poses. A lease made before filing
would be of no validity in the
courts.
