The child of T. D. Cox living some
' distace east of Grand river died yes
terday and will be buried here this
afternoon. Mr. Cox was formerly a
partner of J. T. Brackett.
Cashier Phillips went to Muskogee
last night to learn what he could of
the pending negotiations. The Chero-
kee commissioners assured him they
expected to see an agreement reached.
An Enjoyable Affair
The Presbyterian ladies missionary
society met at the residence of Mrs.
E. N. RatclilT yesterday afternoon
with twenty-two visitors present. The
regular program was carried out and
aiery entertaining selection was read
by Mrs. Ray Oborn. A pleasant feat-
ure of the meeting was the reading of
responsive cards each containing a
scriptural quotation on giving to the
Lord. Dainty refreshments were
served by Misses Nettie Duncan Jes-
sie Daniels and Helena Marrs. After
mite boxes had been distributed one
of the most pleasant meetings of the
society was adjourned to meet at .the
residence of Mrs. W. W. Miller the
first Thursday in February. Among
those present were Mrs. Robert
O'Shea Mrs. Daniels Mrs. W. F.
Carter Mrs. J. A. Berry Mrs. W. W.
Miller Mrs. J. S. Oborn Mrs. A. P.

Gored to Death by a Cow.
An old lady near Bluejacket the
wife of Wm. Carter who formerly
lived near Siloam Springs was killed
by a cow day before yesterday. She
went to the barn to milk and came
out with au apron full of.com and
dropping some of the ears stoope
down to pick them up when the cow
lunged at her and hooked her in the
side killing her.
Under Control.
Reports to the territorial board of
health of Oklahoma show that there
are now seventeen wen aeveiopuu
cases of smallpox in Lincoln county
ten at Stroud one at Chandler and
fire in the country. There have been
three deaths at Stroud and two at the
Sac and Fox agency. The disease is
now believed to be fully under control.
Entertained Last Night.
Miss Senoia Gray entertained a
number of her friends last night at
the residence of Mayor T. M. Buffing-
ton with a card party. Everyone
present spent a delightful evening.

Invitations have been issued for the
wedding of Dr. Charles Randolph
