In the matter of the letting of the con-
tract for the const ruction of a sewer in the
wt-st side of town there is some misunder-
standing. The facts are the matter was
opened for bids by a legal publication
soms two veeks go. One bid wasjinaile.
that of E. J. Overley of 90 cents per foot.
iH. Day came liefore the council and
guaranteed that a bid of (indents x-r
foot would e made if Overley's bid were
rejected. The council accepted Dr. Day's
offer in k'xmI faith and rejec'.ed the Over-
ley bid and aj.'in threw it open forhids-
When the bids"'were opened last night
there were no bids of 00 cents or any-
where near that figure. Therefore the
council rejected nil bills made last night
and instructed the committee having the
matter in hand to accept rtie former bid
of Overley and draw a contract accord-
ingly. The sentiment in northeast Oklahoma
is fast crystallizing" against the sale of
wh'Kil lands. It is in no sense a party
fpiestion nnd the proposition is so palp-
ably wrong as to need little or no argu-
ment to refute it. The school lands will
n r be sold very soon.
Th'-re is little sign of abatement of
r-ibii
improvements in Vinit.i. In fact
the prosH-ct now is that we have just
he(!un.
The voters of all parties in Oklahoma
are Ix-ginni"!! ti wish the campaign was
moid.

Chlck.i Hi Red Eye.
George Lienbursr has a sure
enough cariosity ia the possesion or
a red-eysd chicken. It Is not the eyt-
lids that are red as might be Inferred
bat the eyes themselves. The eyeballs
ar cot bloodshot or lnnamed. hut are
o? a brilliant crystal red while the
sights are also red but of a darker
hue. So transparent are the eye that
when the head of the chicken is held
between your viaioa and the sun it
appears as If the sua were shining
through from one eye to the other and
the head lighted up Inside. The chick
is a healthy and can see as perfectly
as any la the brood. Dover (Del.)

horses off feed for a day when they have to
be thrown for an operation.
Special Attention Given to Horse Dentistry.
1 How to know when your horse's teeth are
not right: He will tum his head to one side
while chewing- spill food from his mouth
and slobber have swellings lumps or run-
ning sores on the jaw. All big head or big
jaw comes from bad teeth. Tossing the
head fghting the bit champing the teeth
lolling the tongue starts suddenly stopping
short shying driving sideways lunging and
running away are some of the bad habits
caused by the mouth being out of condition
with colic indigestion and hide-bound. Cure
all these habits and prevent diseases by put-
ting the teeth in perfect order.
It is not the amount of food a horse eats that
makes him fat but what he digests.
Bad and irregular teeth kill many horses
and cause many bad habits and diseases.
The horse suffers death often from his teeth;
they are hid back in his mouth so his master
'can't see them and he can't talk and tell
sufferings. He Is a silent sufferer.
