George Franklin the young man
who had his leg broken in a runaway
yesterday afternoon is getting along
nicely. His right legt was broken
in two places.
Electric Park Is a very popular place
these hot afternoons and evenings and
scarcely a day passes without there
being a party of picnickers there and
a pool full of bathers.
Mr. and .Mrs. J. C. Edwards of
Marsville Mo. are here for a few
days visiting at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. F. J. Scott. Mrs. Edwards was
formerly Miss Edna Stutsman of this
city.
There will be a ball game at Elec-
tric Park tomorrow afternoon be-
tween the Vinita All-Stars and the
Fairland Indians. The game will bo
called at 2:30 sharp in order that the
visiting boys may catch the eiily

Wm. Malone today stating that lie
had been elected president of the Nh-
tional Building and Loan Examiners
at their convention in Atlantic City.
Mr. Malone states that he got all the
votes of the southern and western
states and of New Jersey.

presented at the Grand next week by
the Billlken Players are "For the
Honor of a Girl" "Moths." "Mutt and
Jeff." "Salvation Kate" "Everybody's
Doing It" "The Love Pirate" etc.
This company comes very highly rec-
ommended from Parsons. Kans.
Mrs. I. L. Gilstrap has received a
letter from Drue C. Wilkes in Hono-
lulu. tn his way home from a two-
years stay In the Philippine Islands.
He also sent a picture of the steam-
ship "Sherman" on which he is sail-
ing. He is expected in Vinita shout
July 15th where he will spend the
remainder of the summer. Mr. Wilkes
has been out of Vinita about twelve
years during which time he has been
in China Phlllipines Cuba and var-
;ous other countries as wall as In
parts of the Un'ted States.

MURDER MYSTERY AT SALINA.
Bullet-Riddled Body of Man Found in
Alfalfa Field.
Salint Kans. July 13. The body of
an unidentified man was found here
yesterday in an alfalfa field. The
body was riddled wtlh bullets and the
skull had been crushed with a blunt
instrument. The features were not
recognizable. He appeared to be a
man of about 40 with sandy hair and
mustache and of medium height. It
is believed he had been working i?..
the harvest fields.
A small amount of money was found
in his pockets scouting robbery as a
motive. The alfalfa was trampled
down about the body Indicating a
struggle.
