ing. .
The May term of the Unit'! Stale
court was opened by Judge Gill this
'morning. Immediately aftc onv n-

ment until 1:30 p. m. The afternoon
session was devoted to the impanel
ing of the ijurors and the clearance
of the docket will not be commenced
until tomorrow. The criminal docket
is unusually small and it is thought
it will be cleared within two weeks.

NEW DISTRICT.

The Cherokee Normal will be
held at the Female Seminary
Tahlequah I. T. beginning June
4th at 9 o'clocka. m. and closing
at 4 p. m. July 2nd 1902. All
persons seeking employment as
teachers in the primary or high
schools of the Cherokee nation
are cordially invited to attend. It
is the aim and desire of the Cher-
okee national board of education
to give better advantages to all
nho desire to 'fit themselves for
the work required of teachers in
the schools of this nation. All
Appointments in luture will be
made from those attending this
normal who pass a satisfactory
examination and are not other-
wise disqualified. All persons
who' have attended and bold first
grade normal certificates now in
force who pass examination en-
titling them to renewal will re-
ceive a certificate good for two
years entitling tbeoi to teach in
any ecbool in the Indian territory.
Work will be different somewhat
from previous normals but ex-
laminations will be made in arith.
