OFFICERS OF CIVIC CLUB
(Continued From Page One.)
by the Federation of Woman's Clubs
and Is "a thing of beauty and a Joy
forever." We take pleasure in con-
gratulating the ladies on the perfec-
tion of their needlework.
The Civic Club of Vinita was re
presented by Mrs. J. W. Orr ex-presl-dent
and Mrs. F. C. Akin the present
president. They also brought a fine
collection of art work and had it on
exhibition. Also some work done by
the Junior Civic League of Vinita. It
was certainly fine and other clubs
and towns would do well to follow
their example and organize household
economics and domestic science work
along with civic work. Mrs. Orr cer-
tainly deserves much credit for the
special pains and personal attention
she has given this department. This
exhibit will be sent to Cincinnati to
be on display at the National Conven-
tion of Woman's Clubs. It would be
very profitable for the young people
of Okmulgee if the clubs would or-
ganize a Junior Civic League and take
up this work. Boys and girls both
would be very much benefitted as well
as entertained for a few hours out of
each month. Among the work of the
Civic League was a comic pen draw-
ing by a sixteen year old boy Charles
Davidson which was fine. Another an
embroidered center-piece by Ed David-
son and a nice little hand painted
booklet of poetry by Harold Orr
eleven years old. A lovely angel-food
cake baked by a twelve year old girl
Julia Neville. Some lovely home-made
candy by children from eight to fifteen
years of age.
