It is a sad day for a public official
when the public suspicions hira and
is constantly watching for him to per-
petrate some graft. The present gov-
ernor of Oklahoma is in precisely that
attitude.

When a' political boss secures the
nomination of a good citizen in order
to utilize that citizen's character as a
campaign asset it is usually assumed
that the citizen if elected ought to
.bow-down before the boss and lick his
boats in gratitude.!. Woodrow Wilson
the newly elected governor of New
Jersey doesn't see things In that light.
He considers that in such a case
honors are easy as between the citi-
zen and the boss and refuses to wear
the machine collar. Smith gave Wil-
son ittyp ppmjnatjofl Wilson pulled the
ticket through on election day. A'nd
now Wilson feels that his obligation
is rather to 'the people who elected
'hlm than to the boss who nomniated
him. Say what's the matter with
Woodrow Wilson? He's all right.
Three cheers and a Princeton tiger!
