the day with its covert bluff. JlasKell won't scare worth a cent.
The rotton phase of ilie affair however is the fact that a paper
printed in Guthrie which indeed is not loo strongly entrenched in tbe
affections of the state should inaugurate a campaign of personal vitu-
peration against the chief executivi of the state. And for what?
Because Haskell has hurt Gut hue5
No. Simply because Haskell distoered Greer red-handed in the
act of defrauding the state. Grt-i admitted ti fraud. He confessed
to his crime. And the crime was tomnntteed to further what the in-

There are times when languago
sooms made as Talleyrand would suy
to conceal thought; times when In
no known tongue can one body forth
his Indignation or express a tltho of
his contempt ho gropes In vain for
Invectives that can boar upon tholr
sulphurous wlngH an adumbration ot
his anger. One must sometlmos Btand

his lips with blasphemy or bdfoul
them with billingsgate.
About threo months ago my atten

of railroad conductors nt Guthrie.

there like swine In an open sower

would havo melted the typo and burn-

Indignation cools os tho days run on
philosophy assorts Itself ami per
chanco I can now speak of thase of-
rondors In languago sufficiently po
lite to escape the attention ot the po-
lice. The tacts may bo summarized
a follows:
At the convening ot the first legis-

pursuant tb a call Issued by our grand
master. P. H. Monlsoy there assem-
bled tn Guthrie a legally elected rep-
resentative of each subordinate lodge
of tho Brotherhood of Railroad Train-
men In tho state of Oklahoma to
form a legislative board. The duty
of this legislative board was to try
and secure such legislation aB would
be beneficial tq our craft and to tho
traveling public as well. Ono of the
most Important of thoso Mils. I wish
to spoak of Is Senate Rlir No. 54
which was Introduced by Senator L. K
T'.yIor and which our board heart-
ily endorsed entitled nn net tor tho
better protection ot employees and
tho traveling .public by requiring full
train crows. This bill provided for
two brakemon and ono flagman on all
freight trains and ono brakoman and
one flagman on all passongor trains

of leaving tlio llvos ot hundred and

that white men to put on all piuwongoi

unjust oi radical legislation? Would
you 1m willing to trust your lire and
tho llvos of your wives and children
In tho Hands of a negro nB that of a

legislation wo wero trying to secure;
wlmii lo and behold wo discovered

feat this bill; to dofeat It by making
false statements nnd any kind of a
falsi) misrepresentation that their low
