Had Narrow Escape
J. M. Lalloo of this city had a nar-
row escape from being drowned last
night in El! icon's hike southwest of
tho city. He had been In tho country
sovernl miles and as It was growing
late decided to take tho "cut-off' road
which lends through the lower part of
Ellison's lake which Is usually low
enough to ford. It was dark whon Mr.
Laltoe reached the lake and drove into
the ford not noticing that It waB
very high. He soon found thut the
horses were sinking and as It waB too

horsos loose and trust to them to pull

and was pulled ashore by the horses
