here from Socorro where great dam-
ago was wrought by a succession of
earthquakes. At Socorro two thous-
and persons aro camping In tents anil
no ono dares go in doors. Praotlcally

campers and heavy rains are falling.
Mrs. J. J. Lesson a rofugeo from

water in the hot springs near Socorro
has Increased several degrees in tem-
perature and the inhabitants fear that
the aucient extinct volcano ten re lies
from tho town will bronk out and be-
gin spurting lava again
The people are fleeing without any-
thing locking up their houses uud get-
ting dut as soon as they can. The en-
tiro surrounding country haB folt the
shocks and much damage has been
doue especially at San Marcia and
Magdalena. but not so severely as- at
Socorro.
A cloud burt near Carlsbad N. M.
and three Inches of rain foil in an
hour. Alt streams and canyons aro
overflowing nnd thero will be milch
damage to crops and fields.
District Court Session.
Judgo Burford is holding- a special
session of district court today. This
urorning the Saddler vs. Holomnn case
was up. The court overruled the ob-
jection to tho report of the roforreo.
At two o'clock tills afternoon the mat-
ter of the bankruptcy of Henry New-
man was presented to the court. The
court will be asked to dismiss the- pro-
ceeding. Mother Secures Son's Release.

Judge Blanchard granted the order
