the half. If Boyd's pernicious activity in politics

If reports bo true ho has acceptod nt the hands

called "fight trust" has been held responsible for the
death ot Harry Tcnnenbsum in tho prize ring. And
It la further declared that "should tho court find it
guilty. It will mean tho abolition ot tho trust." In-

THE COUNTY JAIL AND THE FACTS.
It Is curious to noto tho great stress placed upon
county jail conditions by the Guthrie Capital. For
great Institution maintained at th.9 expoiwo of the
Ux lmyere of this territory. '
The "Transcript" a Republican paper at Nor-

club was being organlcod among the students of the
uV.verslty for the purpose' of influencing local poli-
tics. ThI papor atmod that at a. prior oloctlon held

cratic stronghold the majority of the studonts In at-

readily detected the vory coarse work of tho presi-
dent ot thlo institution.
We havo never been b'nd to tho fact that Presi-
dent Boyd made constant uso of tho political
machinery of this institution tp further his ends
and to make strongor his fences. Thla is and has
Veen a raattor of comment and a matter of commftn
knowledge and wo offered what we deemed a Just
criticism on tho conditions-at the university as por-
trayed in tho artioto copied from tho Norman
"Transcript." For this criticism wo havo been tnken
to task by one of the president's "press agents" in
an article. Those proia agents aro of much aid to
President Boyd. However there Is not one lino in
th's press report denying ono particle of Boyd's
political wickedness in his (mls)managcinent of the
State university; and it Is quite possible this press
agent may know very little of the president's
checkered career as a political wire-worker rope-
puller in his university work. Tho Leader has no
disposition at this date to unfold to the public Boyd's
unfortunate record bollevlng the time not yet oppor-
tune for thiB; but that hte case will bo finally sub-
mitted to the proper tribunal nd that It will have
proper attention) and at no "distant date is a mnt-
ter of comment by some of tho best and cleanest
men of hs own party.
Only a few Instances need to bo cited to prove

Shcr n Murphy's administration for doing that whic
Republican official failed to do. The fat that Mur-

of common notoriety and a fact tlut has been admit-

THE CAU8H OF THE WRECK.
Tho wreck near Florence Colorado the other
day where Jetween thirty and forty llve3 wero
smashed and burned out was the result of a tolo-
graph operator's failure to send instructions. The
operatar .admits his guilt. 1o says ho had had no
sleep for seventy-two hours.
But was tho operator guilty? If tho railroad com-
pany compels a man to work boventy-two hours at n
stretch Indeed If the railroad compnny permits a
man to work steadily that length ot time it seems
as if the guilt lies directly upon tho ofticors of the
company. The crime in this caso la wholesale
murder.
Many pf the wor.t wrecks In recent years havo
resulted frcm the lalluro of an omploye to do his
