Lawton Okla. Feb. 11. There are
1.130 cases sot for trial at this term
of the district court. During almost
three yoars that Coraairtsho 'county
has been organized there liaa never
been oer a half dozen civil trials In
' the district court. A the oxtra ses-
sion which began here Monday. 703
civil cases are docketed. This ex-
cludes thirty one cases among them
being eleven United States civil suits.
Hesldes these there are 335 tcrritor-
ioi criminal and sixty-one United i
States criminal cases on the docket
making a grand total of 1130 cases
for Judge Gillette to look arter to
say nothing of the grand Jury and
countless motions that will occupy his
time.

This is the time of year when the
Santa Fe roadmasters start on their
annual pilgrimage of "spotting ties."
They are required to walk over their
division every spring and examine
and mark the ties which need replac-
ing during the year. They carry an
iron marker called a "spotter" with
which they stamp all defective ties
An estimate is then made of the num-
ber of ties needed on the division for
the year and when they are delivered
the section men distribute them along
th track taKing out tha "spottedj"
ties and replacing them with the new
ones.
