Guthrie Is to be visited this season
with a better class of opera troupes
Umn ever came Into Oklahoma during
during previous years. Companies
which have refused to make dates in
Oklahoma territory ln earlier year
are now Hooding Manager Brooks with
letters and contract blanks asking for
bookings at the various opera houses
on the Oklahoma circuit. The reasons
are said to be the unfavorable outlook
for business over Uie routeB formerly
made by these companies owing to
tho drouth conditions. It has gone out
that Oklahoma is one of the most pros-
perous and productive sections de-
spite the drouth there Is in the west.
Contracts in the central stages have
been canceled and the troupes are
pushing Into the west.
Among the companies to visit this
city the coming opera season are some
leading eastern troupes which during
the past season were not out of the
eastern states. Mr. Brooks is In cor-
reappndence wlh them and has as
surance of their coming but has not
yet made dates for L'elr appearance.
It Is certain that he has some pleas-
ant surprises for the theater going
people of Q-'Uim and will present a
Hue of bookings that will be gra Ify-
