Tonkawa News' The thoroughbred
horrf which a company of our farmer
neighbors bought last spring for
$S.00O died at Illankenahip & Pope's
livery barn the first of the week. It
seems that he had gotten to the shell-
od corn bin and killed himself from
an over-dose of corn. There were
twenty-three sharehoulders In the
company most of whom bad $100
shares. The loss of course will not
be very severely felt by anyone but
Is a general loss to the community
for we ned more of this hlgh-grndo
stock. People are raising entirely too
tnuch common stick. We ar thor-
oughly Imbued with the opinion that
the general welfare of the country
demands an Introduction of thorough-
brad stock of nil kind's. We hope that
fanners will give tlila some attention
und although it Is somewhat expen-
sive to get a start It will cortalnly
pay largely In the end.
The Daptlst church at Hennessey
got on fire the other night and the
man who turned out to pull the flro
extinguisher to the conllagratlon wero
so few that the machine had to be
abandoned and the lire company had
to put the fire out with buckets of
water.
