Tartar with the Kansas volunteers on
board has beep sighted two miles out.
The Tartar will probably not dock to-
night but will anchor off the quaran-
tine station.

States transport Tartar arrived tonight
from Manila vki Yokohama with the
20th Kansas regiment under tlio com-
mand of Col. Metcalf and three hun-
dred soldiers from various regiments.
The Tartar did not dock but anchor-
ed off Angel Island where tthe will re-
main until tomorrow morning when she
will be examined by the quarantine
nnd customs officials. The Tartar wbn
met at Angel Island by Gov. Stanley
of Kansas and party who went out In
a tug to meet her. The custlms officials
gave orders that no one should board
