Tho experiment wheat plats . t the
Oklahoma Experiment station were
cut with a few exceptions June 18-18.
The wheat was grown on medium up-
land prairie soil without special pre-
paration aside from manuring a part
of the plate and green manuring the
others by plowing undur cow poa
Stubble. Thirteen varieties averaged
SS 6 bushels per acre only one yiold-
lng loss than 80 bushels. The largest
yiold of any of those plate was 27.9
bushols. Eleven of theso vorlotlee
have been grown for four yenrs on tho
station farm giving average yield of
88.6 bushelB. Sibley's New Golden.
Mo. Blue Stem Nigger and Early Red
Clawson have given slightly largest
average yields for the four years
In the time seeding trials early sow-
lug gave beet rosulte. Twolve of the
pints sown in September gave average
yield of .' 7 bushels eight sown Oct
5-15 yielded average of 'Jl 1 bushels; 12
sown In November gave average of 6 4
bushels of low grade wheat. All of
these plats were sown with the Red
Russian variety."
Plowing In July gave avetago yield
0 3 bushols greater than plowing oarly
In September.
Plowing four Inches deop gave n
slightly less yield than plowing olght
inches deep. No gain oamo from sub-
soiling land plowed olght Inchos deep.
Manuring with stable manure great-
ly incrensod yield In all cases. Four
manured plats gave averaged yiold of
27.5 bushels while four under like
treatment except with no tnnnuro
gave average yield of 135 bushels.
On an acre in wheat continuously
for seven years tbe half manured in
fall of 1808 yielded at the rate of 30 6
bushels the half unmannred 18 0
bushels per aore. Improving the con-
dition of the soil ruthei than nil ding
plant food is believed rhlef value of
the manuring
Fifty-eight plats including every
plat sown on the farm except those
sown late in the season gave nn av-
