the very oldest of these collections

manded by Capt. Robert 11. Huston
and was tho only soldier from Okla
horoa who gave up his young life for
his country on tho battlefield and the
Idoa of perpotuatlng his memory in
marble Is praiseworthy and patriotic.

Smith:

According to an ancient and well
established custom Masons on tho de-
ceaso of a brother resolutions ac
madn and spread on the records of tbe
lodge to whl?h lu belonged. In con-
formity to this custom tho undersign-
ed committee presents the followlne:
Resolved That the early dawn of
November 10. A D. 1808 A. L. 5808
brought to us without warning an un-
expected alarm at our out door. The
messenger of death came within our
fraternal circles and took from us our
brother friend and neighbor Uenry
L. Smith. Wo assembled performed
our last rites and laid him away under
our emblem of Immortality under the
lDwers under tho honors of a well-
spent life.
In the life and character of brother
Henry I. Smith wero exemplified
thoso virtues and characteristics which
make a ju t aud upright man and
Mason. Diligent and honorable in
business sympathetic and responsive
as a neighbor just and reverential as
a Christian faithful and consistent as
a husband and father and at all times
thoughful ger is hopeful and
ulnd and to all who know htm a faith-
ful friend aud brother.
There was no malice In his heart
his life was full of Instances of fine
temper courage and tnselflshncss. He
knew r.o rank he extended to all con-
dlt ons of mankind hit. skill in the al-
leviation of pain and distress; con-
stantly In the presenco of sickness and
dlstr is he maintained a cheerful de-
meanor nnd his kindly touch aud
soothing words were to many as heal-
ing as tho trusted prescription or ad-
ministration of medicine.
lu this untimely dea'h we express
our sorrow for the lots of him we all
trusted honored and loved and in
this we speak onl the sentiment of
ilie entire tommunlty; we especially
extend or sympathy to his bereaved
widow and his Immediate family and
re atlvcB thus reminding that the cir-
cle broken has beon enlarged to in-
clude tin se nearest and dearest to hlra
we mourn.
