Mr. Barnes knows as woll as other
pooplo where the State Capital has
been. State Capital.
That's no dream. A mind as slow
as a Vlrglhan hexameter and as docile
as a bump on a baby'n face would not
fall to arrive at a correct solution of
tbe twilight bladder's whereabouts.
For six or seven years that yellow kid
Buspiclon of u newspaper has been
wallowing in a hog trough. It has
used politics to sharpen Its teeth for
pie. Indeed the Capital ascribes
much density to Govornor Barnes In
assuming to even question hU knowl-

Mjt McKinlky is reported to be very
much disturbed over the impending
raid upon the gold reserve by money
speculators. Evidently the adminis-
tration doe6 not accept tho explana-
tion of the organ of tbe party that
the exportatloua of gold at this time
was expected and that it Is merely
one of the natural symtoms of trade.
This explanation however Is made
every time such a movement sets in.
The truth Is that under the present
system the gold reserve is at tbe
mercy of the money trafUckers and
intelligent men on both sides of the
financial question recognize the fact
that currency reform Is imperative In
this country. Tho prosent adminis-
tration will not escape the trouble
that beset the last one on this account-
The Oral fur Tweed ItcvleiL.
The attention of nil fashionable Lon-
doners is now directed to the conspicu-
ous revival of the craze for tweeds.
Those of the preeeut sobbou are of
fine texture and cost a handy sum.
Canvas materials too of the thickest
and coarsest qualities are putting In
appearance moat of them displaying
at least two colors violet dark blue
and green making favorite combina-
tions. The short looe black coat is
trying valiantly to make Us appear-
ance but inovt of the tailor suits still
adhere to tho close tight styles the
sklrtu growing narrower and tl.e coata
being cut in the style of a man's mora-
ine coat. For street and out-of-door
sport the Norfolk Jacket is being seen
frequently but this is a trying fash-
ion. A gown was recently soeu at a
Scotch country house vhlch combined
the rare attractions of a Uhi gown and
a dinner gown. It was made of black
mouBsellne de sole striped with nar-
row lined of fine Jet and fulling from
a square yoke of tine lace with tight
sleeves of the sane surmounted by
double frills of kilt-plalted mousaellne.
This -was always worn with the hair
arranged In the latest rreuch fashion
which conslsta of a waved fringe In
front and waved hair at the back of
the neck with a small tight knob on
tho extreme top of the bead. Anothor
attractive evening dress seen at the
aame country house had a moire silk
skirt shot with greon and blue com-
pleted with a pale green chiffon bodloe
high in tbe neck and formed entirely
of tucks running crosswise. This has
a yoke banging in points to tho waist
of cream-color lace studded with hands
and Jewels mstcblug the three colors of
the skirt.
