BIMl'lA FLKJIINU'S LOMM TALK.
It is said that tho Gdtukik Leaser
will rhange its politics and become
the official organ of the Barnes admin-
istration. Tub T.caukh as a Demo-
cratic newspaper supported Harncs
whllo the Oapltal wm first last and
all tho time for Flynn. Kansas City
Star.
Tho above paragraph or something
similar has been floating among tho
papers in aDd out of tho territory for
ten days past.
It is rot and twnddle of the basest
sort and originated in the three-star
JJcnnesRey brain of Harvey Fleming
truth annihllator who wired it to tho
Kansas City Journal from Washington.
The matter was so abourdly silly
that Tiik Leadkr has given it no at-
tention. At iirst it was thought such
a av&temont was being uted by H&rnce'
enemies to embart ass him with cer-
tain senators but thU view is scouted
by Flomlng himself who declares ho is
in Washington "to stir up the boys."
There is no moro danger of The
Leader changing its politics than
thero is of a failure of crops ow-
ing to drouthy weathor in Oklahoma
this season.
For years Tiik Leader has unswerv-
ingly advocated tho Democratic prln
aiplcs and as tho official organ ot
Oklahoma Democracy baa never faltor-
ed In its duty. It has zealously sup-
ported the territorial Democratic
administration and in doing so has
incurred tho enmity of soreheads and
party malcontent but Tiik Leaser
has grown fat on tho attacks of politi-
cal brigands and is now moro firmly
entrenched than ever as tho leading
paper of tho territory.
Tuk Lbader Is Dora' cratlo to tho
coro and standa squarely by tho prin-
ciples enunciated In the Chicago plat-
form of 1896 There is no wishy-
nby buslncvr about this paper. It
HoMTcy and adheres to It strictly.
7 'r or Mr. iiarncf) Tiite Leadkii enter-
tains tho kindliest feelings. Dames is
a political fighter and Tuk Leader
admires a fighter. Ho made a telling
fight under a bank of disadvantages
and Tuk Leader applauded him In Ills
work.
Thero need bo no occasion for alarm
as to The Leader's courso. It will be
ever found on tho side ot justice right
and truth battling for tho doctrine
ot Democracy.

den Goelet possesses real estate sit-
uated in New York city worth 535000-

hundred million dollars' worth of real

naturalized subject of Queen Victoria
having left the United States to seek
more aristocratic surroundings in Lon-
don. When Western legislators
knowing thu facta stated above en-
deavor to formulate tome sort of leg-
islation which shall control inordinate
wealth the newspapers of Now York
raise a cackle of laughter and domand
to know "What la inordinate wealth?"
It is a difficult question to answer.
There are many difficult propositions
facing tbe American people today
and ready rldlculo is not going to assist
in tin ling the answer. There can be
no possible doubt of tho evils that
must flow from tbe fact that a non-
resident Astor owns 300000000 rth
01 Hew York real estate anc tnat a
resident Astor owns S7O.O0O.Oj0 wortn
ot the same kind of property.
Perhaps the humor of the suggestion
that there can bo any remoto pohslbi!
ity of such a thiug as "Inordinate
wealth" may be somewhat dulled by a
contemplation of tbe holding of the
Astor millionaires in New York city.
El Reno Globe: Hon. J. Y. Callahan
Is now receiving much adverse criti-
cism from Republican sources because
he is not in Washington looking after
tbe free homes bill. Now the fact is
that Mr Callahan nor uo one else can
turn a wheel for tbe free homes bill as
long as Speaker Reed refuses to ap-
point committees or t permit any
legislation excepting the tariff bill to
be considered. Senator l'ottlgrow's
free l'omes bill has passed the senate
and could be taken up immediately in
tbe boube excepting that Reed will not
permit it to be considered until the
beginning of tbe regular session next
December. The Republican speaker
opposed tbe bill in the last congress
and be wili prevent its passage as long
aa possible now but it seems that
there is no doubt that it will become a
ltw as soon as it gets before tbe house.
About tho only thing not doomed to
