Let It Not He Done With
the Old ring.
Sldnoy O Oct. 21. In his speech In
this city Mr. Byan said:
"I want to call your attention to
something that appeared in yesterday
morning's paper T find that the
chairman of the .pul'lcan national
commltU'o has issued letter to tho
people in which ho say-: 'The Amer-
ican flair has been In the present cam
paign the emblem of insignia of na
tiounl honor. Its inlluenco has been
fur irrcat good In the causo of a good
people. Its display in many places
nun been count In tho advancement
of the country's bottle for tho main-
tenance of Its honor at homo nnd
abroad I therefore suggest that on
Saturday October 31 all who intend
to vote on November 3 for tho preser-
vation of our national honor for
sound money and for tho advancement
of our people's interest and general
prosperity display tho natloual colors
at their homes their places of busi-
ness or wherever they may bo seen In
order that voters whoso hearts are for
their country may bo strengthened in
their purpose and that those who are
undetermined may tho more patriotic
ally and Intelligently concludo bow
best to perform their duty as c'.tlzent.'
"My friends it is tho first time that
1 know of that I bavo agreed with tho
chairman of the Republican national
committee but I want to sign
my name to his letter and
aslc all those who believe in
tho ideas set forth there to tils-
Clay tho ling on the 31st of October
ccauso there is not a thing In that
letter but what wo advocates of free
silver endorse. Now note what he
says; 'That he wants the flag dlspl.ved
by all those who on the third of No-
vember Intend to vote for the preser-
vation of our national honor' Wo
advocates of frco silver bclicvo that
only by having a financial policy mado
by tho Amerlcaa people for tho Amer-
ican people can you support the honor
of tho United States. Ho wants those
to display the ttag who arc for sound
money. Wo who believe in tho money
of the constitution aro for a sounder
money than those who want to change
our currency Into pounds shillings
and pence. We who believo In a basis
for our financial transactions sulll jlent-
ly broad for thoso transactions to rest
upon believo in a Bounder financial
system than those who advocate a
gold standard and a financial system
based upon gout alono when you can
not get tho gold t3 furnish your foun-
dation Wo not only believe In sound
money but wo tell you what wo menu
by sound money and bo do not play
tho byDOCrito by talking about sound
money and then refusing to explain
what tho term meanB. Ho wants
those who aro going to vote for tho
advancement of our people's Interests
and general prosperity to display the
American llag. My friends we bo-
llevo that the frco coinage of silver
the opening of the mints for the free
coinage of silver at tho ratio of 10 to t
without wailing lor tne ato or consent
of any other nation on earth means
the advancement oi tno interests oi
the people and of general prosperity
and therefore we can join with these
men In displaying the American llag
and lot it bo known to tho country
that wo are standing by the flag and
we are not asking foreign nations
what that flag shall mean.
I join in the request for three rea-
sons; First because everything ho
asks in that letter wo believe in and
therefore wo bavo as much right to
display tho American llag on that day
as any Republican has and wo believe
that we have a good deal more moral
right to do it in this campaign I join
in the letter for another reason. I do
not want them to mark the advocates
of frco sliver for slaughter on that
day I do not wantcmployers to go
about over your town and throughout
tho country and find ont who has a
flag in bis window nnd then threaten
to discharge any man who docs not
say bo Is going to vote the Republican
ticket.
"Mt friends if coercion is going to
bo attempted for heaven's sako lot it
not bo attempted by using the flag as a
means of pointing out tne men ia ua
threatened. If they want to find out
who shall ba slaughtered let them tako
some other emblem than the nation's
emblem under which to do their nefari-
ous work. There Is another roason
why I join in that request. I want
some flags to float on that day which
do not mean a government by syndi-
cates and for syndicates. I want some
flags to float on that day that do not
stand for the right of a coal trust to
send a representative to every fireside
and collect from every family in this
land. I want some flags to float on
tbnt day that do not stand for the
opinions of thoso who say that if the
majority of tbo pcoplo will decide a
ccrtala wny in this campaign they do
not know whether they will submit
to the decision or not. I want some
flags to float on that day which have
behind them the honest sentiment of
the Amerlcun people of people who
intend to attend to their own business
and do not Intend to be bought or
bribed ordrivon into sunportof foreign
financial politics. (Applause and
cheers. )
"So my friends I want to ask all
advocates of silver to bang out the
flag on that day I want them to put
it into their homes and their places of
business and if need be to carry it
upon tho street and let our opponents
know that we do not intend to surren-
der that ensign and emblem into the
bands of tbo enemies of tho people of
this country." (Orcat applause and
cheering )

Electric Hitters ia a medicine suited
for any season but perhaps more gen-
erally needed when the languid ex-
hausted feeling prevails when the
liver la torpid and sluggish and the
need of a tonic and slterativo Is felt.
A prompt use of this medicine has
often averted long and perhaps fatal
