Night before last the evangelist's
subject was ''The Christian Platform."
The preacher vm in one of his hap-
piest moods and held tho large audi-
ence in close attention for over an
hour. Introducing Ills subject for the
evening he spoke of tho great politi-
cal conventions gathering at St. I o tils
and Chicago to arrange their plat
forms how that the brain and seal of
both parties is being laid out for the
amendments of the two great political
platforms how earnest they were to
take out the bad and supply the good
planks in thoir platforms.
Should Christians be a whit behind
the world for their zeal and energy?
Should thoy not stop now and then to
survey the ground and rearrange their
platform in their efforts to bring it up
to the standard of Uod? There
are four great planks in our platform
Submission Faith Confession and
Restitution. The good Republican or
Dsmocrat submits to his party's plat-
form and oasts his vote accordingly.
The good citizen submits to the
laws of his city and country. Every-
where there Is submission to law and
authority Ood's law is fouud in the
Bible. Let's lift our standard to it
and submit to it Faith: The
whole world revolves on this pivot
I buy my railway ticket on the
strength of faith in the company to
fulfill their part of the contract. The
employe tolls month In and mouth out
In faith his omployor will recompense
hiiu.
Speaking of the last plank in the
platform he said there were but throe
way of getting things having them
presented you earning them or Ltenl-
iii tlu n. Ills definition
nf .is o n-r wus that they were people
who v..ull h ioner steal than buy.

Along with these he raked up the mer-
chants who advertise to sell goods at
one price and measure them out or
weigh them out at another price.

The now of the nomination of V.
J. Rryan was received with great i c-
j'dcing by the people of all classes in
Qathric. The excited and anxious
crowd that had been gathered about
Tho leader bulletin board for clays
sent up cheer after cheer and the news
spread rapidly over the oily causing
joy everywhere.
In the evening the First Regiment
band serenaded The Leader office and
the great crowd about the bulletin
board cheered themselves hoarse and
a spontaneous ratification was held by
all alike.
While the leaders were considering
the date upon which to best hold a
grand territorial ratification of Itryan
