Committee
Thore will be n meeting of the dem
ocratie central committee of Oklaho-
ma at Mi Rono Okla. on Wednesday
April 20 1890 at 11 o'clock a. in for
the purpose of fixing the time and
placo for ho'.ding the territorial con-
vention to select six delegates to the
national democratic convention which
it called to meet at Chicago 111. on
July 7 1SU5. and to apportion the del-
ogntes for tho various counties in said
convention. Al?o to consider the time
and placo for holding the territorial
convention to nominate a candidate
for delegate to congress.
The attendance of every member of
U10 committee is earnestly solicited.

Tim Quay boom ic strongly suspect-
ed of structural weakness.
It now looks as if Holmes is about
twonty-soven kinds of liar.
Gov. Hkam.ky's band wagon has de-
voloped an netite case of list wheel.
A jiK&BKXOKit boy was caught run-
ning in Pittsburg the other day and
by a policeman too
Dank horses probably will eut Httlo
figure at St. Louis; but darlt delegates
will add life to tho bidding.
It probably will not require a ma-
terializing modluin to prove whether
Tom Piatt in in the uoxt cubinet or
not.
Tiik Quthrie club should be mergod
into a commercial organization at once.
Auiuiemeat is ah right but business
is more.
U.U.VKtno.N- business men -hould not
be allowed to pass through Guthrie
without receiving a touch of Oklahoma
hospitality. The Guthrie club should
lay aside whist for a season and look
after the city's welfare.
Tom (iau-o.v Philadelphia!! has
baon sentenced to the workhouse for 5
year for running a saloon A'ilhout a li-
cense. This is at tho rate of tbreo
months for each quart pretty severo
punishment
Tiikmk wore thirteen goldbugs la
the Missouri convention out of a mem-
bership of nearly 000. Thirteen Is
generally an unlucky number but in
this ease it was a lucky thing for tho
country that the number U uo largor.
Mib Xki.uk WitioiiT o( Delphi N.
Y. who was supposed to be dying of
consumption oughed up a tooth the
other day and is now getting well.
Persons who are accustomed to wear
teeth in their lungs will do well to
make a note of this and cough.
Tiik advance in the price of reflnud
sugar will bring the Cubau war home
to every household. The demand is
great for the grocers are buying heav-
ily in expeetatlon of a further riso.
The advance in seven days has beeu
live-sixteenths of a cent per pound.
Standard grauuluted sugar which Is
now Ave and a half cents per pound
has not been so high since the middle
of ISM. Apart from political reasons
this eouutry has thus keen interest in
the speedy settlement of the Cubau
strife
Tmkmc is truth in the assertion that
this eoHgress has spent more time
leaking for trouble abroad than it has
la attending to useful home legisla-
tion. The latest reach after trouble is
a resolution now before the senate ju-
diciary committee requesting that the
nraaJdeai intervene with the lirituh
authorities to secure the release of
Mrs. May brick now serving a life sen-
tence in a lirltish prison as a result of
having been found guilty of poisoning
bar husband. Mrs. May brick is an
American and there has always beeu
muah sympathy for her in the United
States and a general belief that she
was innocent of the charge upon
which she was found guilty but that
does not give the president any right
ta iutorveue with the Hrltlsh author-
ities In her behalf; hence the resolu-
tion oirored by Senator Call of Flori-
da is moroly another reach after
trouble. It ought to die in committee
but nobody cau tell what senators will
do these days.
T.I5T TIIIH HE AN AflTlVn AI1MINIS-
TKATION. The municipal administration which
passed out of existence Thursday
night did less for the city of Outhrle
than any administration lifted to tow-
er shice the settlement of the town.
It was absolutely impassive and in
several instances corrupt. During the
past two i-ars few improvements
were made striu ts and allejfi sank
into decay t-evoral bond issues were
made the waterworks plant fell into
dilapidation and yet it cost 6oC0 to
run the lo al government nine months.
Not one praise worthy act in behalf ol
the town was recorded during the
Martin regime. Under the new ad-
ministration we trust a new order of
things will prevail. Mayor Farqwhar-
son and the council have it in their
power to do the work left undone by
the old administration and Tim Lka
iirk earnestly hope that no time
will bo lost by them lo push
the interests of the city to the front
The new officials should imbue them
selves with Arc and energy and give
ihe people a clean active and aggres-
sive ail ministration. The town has
suffered too long from ennui on the
part of her guardians and no efforts
have been made to invite capital and
maintain improvements Hy diligent-
ly laboring in behalf of Uuthrle Mayor
Farquharson and aides will receive tho
cordial support and co-operation of all
taxpayers.
Tiik following from Secretury Whor-
ton's Perry Sentinel is Important to all
members of the Oklahoma Press Asso-
ciation: "The Oklahoma Press Asso-
ciation will hold its annual meeting at
ISnid May 11-15 ISM It is necessary
that all members be present and ace
that they receive their certificate card.
The constitution of the association
article 2 section S. rads as follows:
1 The membership fee of this associa-
tion shall be SI to be paid at the lime
of election and the annual dues there-
after the sum of 81 lo be paid on or
before the annual meeting in May of
each year. Failure to pay dues an-
nually forfeits membership.'
It will ba seen that those who fail to
pay their dues 00 or before the coming
meeting in May will be dropped from
the roster. If jou wish to retain your
membership send in your dollar and
get your certificate card for the next
year."
Frank Olsmith entered upon the
discharge of his duties as police 1udgc
yesterday. Olsmith is one of the best
men in Uuthrle. He has 11 big heart a
clear conscience and a keen faculty for
adapting liiaiselt to all conditions
The title of judge fits him admirably
and he fills the police court chair with
dignity and ability. Tiik Lbadkr feels
confident that Lb end of tho olty ad-
ministration will be clean and diamond-pointed.
1 iik re-appointment of Mr. V. II.
llsxlor as chief of police meets with
goueral satisfaction. Mr. Baxter is a
painstaking courteous olll;ial and has
filled the otli-e with more ability than
any Republican that has ever served
at tho head ol the police department.
Judgk Fukd MoitOA.x holds nn efilce

Peace Adams having refused to turn
over his books ThU is a republican
dilemma in which the man who shows
the most yellow streaks will lose.
Faun Morgan should don rubber
bIiocj and a woozy smile and lasso the
fcos as they emerge from Adams' jus-
tice shop. Ur he might give a minaturc
