and in that body to mike a strip one
half mile Wide that would reach ar-
ound the world and then leave enough
of terra firnia to make a two milt
atrip all the way from Chickasha to
Washington D. C where the good
work was done that makes the Indiana
free to handle his own just as does
hia "heap big white brother."
Chicka.sha is to he the center of at
traction in the round up and right
cheerfully will she shoulder the re-
Kponaihility. It is a propitious mo
ment; she is just sixteen and she will
do her piettiedt.
Chickasha is 1100 feet above the
aea level. Not much for high and ye
high enough to make the native
booster Ltiiilihy wealthy and wibe.
Kansas City lies 350 miles north
east of us and strange as it may ap
pear we are twice one half the dis-
tance Houth west of Kansas City.
Chickasha la a Federal court town
and Is Ikiewise the capital city of
Grady county hence as a courting
town it will hold its own. We might
mention the fact that there are yet too
many young men and women here
who are "heart whole and fancy free
at leant they admit as much with
out a flush although they have been
known to hold hands at the trisiing
hour.
C-h-l-c-k-a-8-h-a ! Don't pronounce it
".shaw!" Prenounce it wrong and you
will be right linger on the "a" and
you will at least be considered a na
tive."
i
In Chickasha had 2G12 people;
in 1903 they had increased to 42C3; in
1908 today we have over 12000. As
proof the Bchool census enumerated
2442 school children and each school
noy or girl is gooii lor live m trie
count .sow that the wave m on
Chickasha will double hrr size ia three
years.

ha k n't as yet taken time to observe :
'he Iaslc phiz of the men. All we
know about them is th-it they would
like to ma.ih the " Merry Widow."
Uncle Sam realizing the rapid
growth of Chickasha dug down in his
jeans and gave the city $15000 with
which to buy a site for a $200000 Fed-
eral building. The building will be er-
ected after the next building appro-
priation hill is passed. The prize is
big enough to w?it for. In the mean-
time Cbickasha will busy herself
spending $90000 on a central high
school building; $33000 on a city hall
and $23000 in building storm sewers.
And while this work Is progressing
one hundred or more blocks of street
paving will be put in insuring many
miles more of cement walks.
Our post office banks tax levies
and rail road receipts are pretty good
indicators of the bonanza that Chick-
asha is to all wise guys and some un-
wise ones as well. The post office
receipts for 19o6 were $19979.00; and
for 1907 they were $2483500; an in-
crease of $487600 over 20 per cent
advancement to the good. The total
bank deposits of 1906 were $1284194
and for 1907 they were $1671335; In
crease in volume of $387141 near 25
per cent growth. The assesment val-
uation of property in 1906 was $3000-
000 and in 1907 it was 5500006 an
increase of $2500000. The Rock Is-
land railroad did in volume of busi-
ness here in 1906 $830366.21 and in
1907 its receipts here were $1090200
an increase of $268834. This showing
which could be strung out as long as
the moral law proves that Chickasha
ig going some. Don't you thnk?
Chickasha has a complete tele-
phone system local and long distance.

ers. Chickens are too high out of j
reach in fact. We risked pricing one
Saturday it was medium sixe corn-;
fed and was yet possessed of its liver
gizzsrd and heart in fact it had lost
nothing but a few drops of blood and
its feathers. The looks cf the foul
was enough to make a man exhibit
the white feather but we ventured
and as the bony-breasted ghastly-headed
critter struck the scales the deal-
er announced ''55 cents." It we ever
go broke it will not be because of
buying chickens with only the feathers
plucked. But had you observed? Here
is a chance for easy money. Make be-
lieve you are working and let the hens
"lay for you" you just furnish runs
and feed and rake in the "doe."
Chickasha has an electric water
power plant that works while' you
8lepp an electric light and power
plant and a few perpetual windjam-
mers who might as well be planted.
Chickasha is the coming manufac
turing city of Oklahoma. Through
modesty and brotherly love Chickasha
will not designedly with malice afore
thought out strip her jealous neigh
bor to the northeast in any other
than that particular. Vtiih population
more than ' doubling each five years
in Chickasha as has Deen the record
real estate is real estate. If you want
to get in on the ground floor you'll
have to get a hustle on you. It Is a
three story city today. It will be a five
and six story city next year. Get on
board.

Chickusha "points v.tih pride" to its
famous concert hand. Our people ap
preciate the fact that the band boys
in their energy and desire to he doing
for the public erected within them-
selves a grand convention .hall wher?
today the summer theatre Chautauqua
and other entertainments are held.
The Chickasha Concert band plays
equally well in a theatre or in "A fiat."
