The Ardmore Appeal thinks
that if tbe president really desired
to kill big game be would have
come to the Territory. But then
he was afraid of being besieged
by tbe advocates of single state-
hood double statehood territorial
government et cetera.
The business men of Chiokaaha
are doing the right thing by the
Fire Department in patronizing
their ball program and their as-
sistance will be gratefully appre-
ciated. Already the boys have
sold sufficient space to pay a large
part of tbe ball's expenses.
Just watch brother T. F. liens-
ley ot the El Reno Democrat and
notify ns please When he gets back
into foil fellowship in the Demo-
cratic party. Confidence is a
plant of slow growth under such
circumstances. He will have
about as much influence in the
future deliberations of the party as
his pet Bird will have in the halls
of Congress. Perry News.
Tbe Express always desires to
be perfectly fair and straightfor-
ward in every subject discussed in
its tentorial or local columus. Its
editors are but human and like
all other people they sometimes
make mistakes. If in discussing
some matter of public policy or
anything else there is some point
overlooked or some mie-statement
made don't fly off tbe handle and
get mad but call our attention to
it and set us right on the matter.
You will be listened to with re
spectful attention and your side of
the question will be published
without fear or favor. The Ex-
press sometimes takes the unpop-
ular side of a question but the de-
sirs of the editors is to present all
sides in their true light. We did
so in regard to sidewalks and will
do so in all cases if the informa-
tion is st hand or can be obtained.

storage has. It appears m disadvan-

But there Is a limit to th4
power of the eoniblDO to effect prices.
as Is seen la the case of wheat
corn which are not so perishable as
peaches and eggs. Theoretically the
capltalst aho Id be able control tbe
world's supply of wheat and be able
to sell at starvation prices but In fact
he does not do so and cai.no. do
In the long run the prevention of loss
by cold itorage may tend by increas-

The Zzzigerh 0f trave' in- Tripoli are
tfcus described by United States
Consul General Skinner of Marseilles:

AN ADVENTURE IN ITALY.
Artist Tells of Somewhat Ludicrous
incident at a Well.
Mortimer Menpes the artist tells
the following travel story of an Inci-
dent near Naples: "A whining
Neapolitan pestered us with revests
that we should taste his orange li-
queur and buy a bottle only one bot
tle. This made tia cross for we were
very hot and neither I nor my daugh-
ter drink wine. Moreover the man
was blocking our view. To get rid
of him we attempted to climb a wall
by the Bide of a well. I got over safe-
ly but In attempting some more
graceful and acrobatic feat my daugh-
ter missed her footing and fall bead-
long Into the well below. On rising
to the surface she clusg like grim
death to a small piece of mossy stone
projecting from the side of the well
and I above her waited In agony of
mind scared and shivering until
ropes and ladders were lowered and
she half walked and was half pulled
up. The most excited person of all
was the wine merchant who leaned
over her his face deadly white with
patches of green pouring pints of his
precious orange liqueur down ber
throat gratis."
Some of tbe newspaper men of
the territory see is Ardmore's re-
cent Chickasaw convention and
South alcAlester's call for a Choc-
taw meeting a deep laid plot on
the part of Ardmore to furnish the
territorial delegate to congress

Skinning Pearls.
Tbe lapidary was skinning a pearl.
He bad on gloves of a very delicate
sort of kid and the glasses that he
wore had lenses ot such great magni-
fying power that his eyes through
them looked as big as saucers. "I
wear gloves." he said "because the
hands perspire freely In this work
and perspiration has often been
known to discolor pearls. This stone
was injured by the accidental drop-
ping on lt of some acid. The disaster
discolored It you see. With this very
delicate little tool I am removing Its
outer skin and If I find that the acid
has filtered through antf discolored
the inner skin also t may remove
that as well. A pearl you see. Is com
posed of concentric layers or skins
and you can if you are a clever work
man peel it down and down until lt
disappears. That operation. Indeed Is
often done by tbe apprentices of tbe
lapidary trade. They work on spoiled
worthless pearls and the experience
Is very good for them. It teaches
them a great deal about the pearl's
anatomy and it gives a wonderful
cunning to tbelr band. The pearl Is
tbe only precious stone that can be
skinned. To skin it is often the only
way to restore its milky color."
The Conjugal Paradox.
"We don't seem to be really one
Bella" complained the young hus-
band. "You Insist on having your own
way and your own notions about
things. Just as you did before we were
married."
"Don't you know dear" said ths
young wife leaning over the back of
his chair and smoothing the hair over
bis temples with her soft band "that
the mora distinctively we are two the
more completely we are one?"
And she crooned to him till he was
almost convinced. Chicago Tribune.
