CAMEL CITY U. S. A.
(or Winston-Salem N. C.
' according to the map)
Here I am tonight in Winston - Salem
where more tobacco is manufactured than ' "
in cny other place on the face of the ea.th!
When I knocked off for the day I buzzed
around like a hungry bee in a buckwheat
field up and down long streets of R. J.
Reynolds Tobacco Co. factories!
As the Reynolds entcrpriat; proved j1""
more and more gigantic and I talked witli "
more men about it I got the real and true
answer as to why Camels are so good and so
entirely different from any other cigarette!
I'll spin it for you old top listen:
Every man I talked with made the one
big point that the officials and the more
than 350 Reyiiolds foremen have an inborn
knowledge of the tobacco business; that
(putting it into a' North Carolina expres-
sion) they were virtually "born and raised
in a tobacco patch"; that they know to-
bacco; how to grade it. blend it. and how
to manufacture and sell it i
And what's most important of all Pete
fifse Reynolds folks sure give men wli:U
they want the best that can -be produced!
Why Peter it took months to perfect
Camels. Turkish and Domestic blend and
that refreshing flavor and wonderful mild
mellow body (
Tomorrow I'm going to meet some of tlia-
Reynolds folks. 1 Got tefsee1 inside of those
factories!
And you know me!

SPEED UP
This is tho slogan of America. It
helped to win the war. It has made
this country the leader among the
nations of the world. It is incorpo-
rated in the make-up of the individ-
ual and enables Americans to do
things that "can't be done." f
Another word for this Spirit is
"pep."
Apply this test to yourself. Have
you got the re(iiired "pep" to go to
wbool and get kucIi special training
that will enable you to climb to
greater thing In life or can you be j
content to live only for today let-
ting totgorrow take rare of itself? j
lxt us give you a real example .of i
pep. . j
Seven years ago a young man i
living in southwest Oklahoma had
made a crop failure and after pay-
ing his debts had a little more than
VliK) left. Hy chance he picked up
one of our circulars and just to
kill a little time began to read it. It
hail not occurred to him to attend
n Ilusiiii ss College because he had
not finished his public school work.
I hit when he had finished reading.
I he made his decision and acted at
once. The next day he left for
Chickaslia and entered school. In
less than six months he had com-
pleted our cnurstk and we had pi .iced
him in a bank. lie Is t(
of that bank.
We could mention hundreds of
similar cases but we pick out this j
particular one to illustrate our point
of the vSlue of quick decision and
quick action. . j
If a young person has the neces-
sary energy and reserve power to j
"speed up." he has the quality that
will carry him to a success through
all obstacles.
OBLIGATION
Every young person is under a
great obligation to succeed in life
and be able to meet tho responsi-
bilities of life in ah honorable and
creditable manner.
lie owes it to his parents to build
a character that will be a joy to
them and fulfill their expectations
and hopes.
It is the ambition of every parent
that their children be educated
that they may become independent.
' A boy or girl that does not put
forth his or her best efforts to this
end will be falling far short of his
duty to the ones that Jove him most
and to whom he owes the greatest
debt. You may not find it possible
to complete public school and at-
tend university four yenr?. but the
Commercial school put3 an education
within the reach of practically eve-
ry one and is a stepping stone that
leads to independence and often
times to wealth.
There is no field of human endeav-
or that offers so many and varied
opportunities for success as the bus-
iness world and the training re-
ceived at a first-class business col-
lege is the key that opens the way
to this field.
The modern business training is
the training that you must have in i
Iheso days of specializing. The bus- !
iness man expects you to be a com- ;
'pelenl efficient anil trained produc-;
er right from the start. lie does!
not have time to teach you book-
keeping shorthand typewrit ing spell- j
ing 'etc. You must get that in
school. ;
READING THIS CIRCULAR MAY
CAUSE YOU TO MAKE
.A DECISION
And that decision may greatly in-
fjuence ypir future.
Your future depends on what you
do today Tho most important ques-
tion that confronts young people is
how to make the most of today so
that in later years you will not be
compelled to live a life of drudgery
and dependence..
It is a question that must be lac-
ed sooner or later. You cannot side
step it.
Why not stop now long enough to
think " about it seriously? Many do
not realize 1 the value of an educa-
tion until it is too late. You have
it in1 your power to choose the way
you W'lll go. You must either secure
the education and training . while
you are young that will enable Mm
to earn a good salary or to be tr.an-
. ager of some business or you must
face the disagreeable prospect of de-
pending on the uncertainty of un-
skilled labor for a livelihood.
The answer to the question of
your future is easy. It is simply
one of preparation. You must get
an education the business education
is the shortest and surest path t
success. It is the education that
will help you to tako advantage of
opportunities for getting ahead.
.. There is no education or training
that costs as little and pays as
weir. It not only enables young people
to get a start but it helps thorn
-to rise to (lie really hi;; posijions in
the business world.
HAVE YOU COT A PULL?
W'lniL is 1 hero in all this talk we.
bear about a "I'nll" and "chance"
and "luck" helping a young man or
young woman et started on tho
road 1 ) success?
enough to cause
it alone?
analyze its true
Is ihoru really
one to depend on
If you stop to
worth you will not have to go out-
side of your own experience and ob-
servation to satisfy yourself that it
will bo inviting failure if you de-
pend on it.
The only "pull" that we know that
you can depend on is the pull of
a practical education and business
trainui!; toetner witn un ambition
and willingness to work. Hundreds
of our former pupils who are now
in positions of trust and responsibil-
ity and have; already made a splen-
did success in various lines of busi-
ness have had this "pull."
They did not trust to luck or
chance. They did not wait for
something to turn up. They "got
busy" and made things happen.
VISITORS ALWAYS WELCOME
A cordial invitation is extended to
the public and to all who are inter-
ested in an education tu visit our
school and see (be work of the dif-
ferent departments. .
You can judge what we can do
for you by what we have done and
are doing for others.
IT IS OUR
