Reported to House Quarles Bill
in the Senate.
Washington April 9. The ter-
ritorial delegates are in freqaent
consultation with Speaker Hen-
derson concerning the statehood
b II and house leaders are watch-
ing a favorable chance to call it
up. If the Cuban tariff does not
consume all this week in consider-
ation the bill may get in by Sat-
urday. Two days at the first of
next week are already engaged.
The senate bill providing for ir-
rigation in sixteen states and ter-
ritories has been reported to the
house with amendments. This
bill requires the secretary of the
interior to expend the proceeds
of the sale of certain public lands
tor irrigation in the respective
states and territories. The report
says there is ona third of Oklaho-
ma included in the semi-arid area
with 2700 acres irrigated; thirteen
million acres in private ownership
seven millions reserved and 4600
000 acres subject to entry. Con-
sideration will be given the biil

provides for twenty-eight coun
ties. The court of appeals is to
designate county seats; a recorder
of deeds is to be elected for four
years: the district judge is to
appoint oennty judge to serve four
year? . a deputy marf hal who is to

the court. The prisident is to
appoint an attorney -general.
