We hare found out that man
has as much vanity as woman on-
ly he can keep bis hid better 'tno
yon can see him take a snrrepti-
tious glance at the big windows
as he passes by them as well as
the weaker vessel woman.
Though I don't suppose it is to
see if his hat is on straight. I
fancy be looks to see if bisthoulh-
MM are well-straightened back as
well as nature assisted by a lib-
eral amount of padding can make
them. Ob! no we don't monop-
olize the artificial means of im-
proving the human form by any
means any more than the vanity
iart. If you notice any time you
are near a mirror say in a car
s ou will see quite as many men at

ucinntion of gazing at ourselves

'leautiful person doing so; but
there are others so ugly that it is
a wonder they don't break the
ijlass as the would be funny man

other time without a qualm if
not genuine de'.igbt. I ooppose it
ii human nature. Even a monkey
enjoys the light of it's own coun-
tenance and a canary inconsol
able at the loss of its mate cheer-
e lap aud commenced to sing
when a glass was put near the
sage though be supposed it wa
his lost companion no doubt.
Bat a San Fraucisco cat is said to
admire herself in a glass. But
why wouldn't shef For she wears
diamond earrings aud a necklace
valued at 1260.00. Obviously
although given every attention
bathed regularly uud put to bed
like a child she is not permitted
to take the air like her plebian
aud less-favored sisters; so she
has a nice little house in thevanl.
and there takes her sun bath.
Well it takes all kinds of peo-
ple to make a world! But with
so much suffering and want iu the
world t seems to me I woulJ be
afraid to spend money iu such a
useless manner. The actress
whose (poOO Angora cat had an
operation performed on it for
that fashionable disease appendi-
citis is more to my liking as I
intensely hate to sec animals suf-
fer. Ihe signs of Mr. Sail t a Claus

ter a great deal of thought she

lug high up near the hole where
the pipe goes in so he cau reach

might help some other perplexed
little ones who of conrce . would
like to muke things ar easy as
possible for him.
Ob! the dear illusions of child-
hood! Try and let them retain
them as long as ossible. The
stern realities of life come to them
soon enough Tbey have only one

help them when the time comes
as it comes sooner or later to all
to bear their share of the burden

complainingly for the sake of the
