A PERTINENT QUESTION
The Dutton correspondent of the
ExfBHss inquires:
"IJas anyone written to the de-
partment stores patronized so lib-
erallf by our people to find out
what they wi'l do for the storm
sufferers?"
It ' a very pertinent question
and should set some of tre folks
who patronize the mail order
houses to thinking.
Thousands of dollars are annual-1
Reports received from Washing
ton relative to statehood indicate
that it's all over except the shout
tug. Well do the shouting. Get
ready to exercise your lungs.
A new star in the flag a sp!end
id new commonwealth. The long
struggle for freedom ended new
hopes brighter prospects. A new
chapter in American history is
nearly writteD.
It's not Uncle Joe's fault that
Oklahoma gets statehood. All we
ly sent to the mail order houses by I "n lhank him for is h is surren
our peode. bv farmers and mW der at the ast minute thus sacri-
because It is fancied that these peo
ple sells goods cheaper than the
Lome merchant. As a matter of
fact they do sell at lower prices but
they are cheaper goods in most
cases inferior articles that don't
compare in quality with the goocs
o!d by the local dealer. When
the freight and difference in
quality are considered they are not
cheaper.
But another phase of the pro-
position is raised by our Dutton
friend. When misfortune overtakes
the cornmunity.it is the borne mer-
chant who is called upon for as
sistance. Nobody ever heard of a
sonl less m?il order house respond
ing to the call of suffering and
need. The home merchant must
bear the burden and he does it
most cheerfully just as he bears
his part when a church or a school
house is to be built or when a do-
nttion is needed for any other pur-
pose. The truth is that the home mer-
chant i. (lie friend of his custom-
ers. Instead of being possessed
with the desire to rob them as
some people wrongly imagine he
wants nothing but fair living pro-
fits for his goods and he gives full
value in goods for every dollar in
ficing his noble face.
4v iuc uay 01 ceinerance is at
hand and the bells will proclaim
dependence throughout the terri
tory.
Tht
ere won t be any fireworks
left in the territory for the Fourth
of July.
Statehood means a new era of
prosperity for the territories.
It's true Alfonso; it's statehood
the real article this time.
And now the 'politicians will get
busy.
All hail to Greater Oklahoma
Of course we'll celebrate.
UNKNOWN fRlCNO.
There are many people who have
used Chamberlain's Colic Cholera
t.nd Diarrhoea Remedy with splend-
id result but who are unkown be-
cause they have hesitated about
giving a testimonial of their ex-
perience for publication. These
people however are none the less
friends of this remedy. They have
done much toward making it a
household word by there personal
recommendations to friends and
neighbors. It is a good medicine
to have in the home and is widely
known .'or its cures of diarrhoer
and all .'arms of bowel trouble. For

BOW TO EUlAl IP A COLD-
It may be a surpri.-e to many to
leam that a severe co! j can be com-
pletely broken up in one or two
days' time. The first symptoms of
a cold are a dry loud cough
profuse watery discharge from the
nose and a thin whit coating on
the tongue. When Chamberlain's
cough remedy is taken every hour
on the first appearance of these
symptoms it counteracts the effect
of the cold and restores the system
to a healthy condition within a
day or two. Fcr sale by "All

EVIDENCE OF PROSPERITY
On account of increased business
the Owl Drug Store has found it
neceasary to install an electric pow
er plant to freeze the ice cream
used at their soda fountain. This
enterprising firm has placed an or-
der with a New York concern for
a forty quart Samson Power Freez-
er and a Paragon Klectric Motor
for operating same.
It is a well established fact that
ice cream made by electricty is
much smoother and much superior
in every way than if frozen by
hand power. 36-tf
