I WORDS MASTERS
I OF OUR ACTIONS
Importance of Speech Decbred lo He 2S
Creat as That of Ideas
"Words are women deeds are men
wrote George Herbert ia the early six
teen hundreds "Actions speak louder
than words" runs an old proverb. De
motritus said "words are but the shad
ows of actions" These are only half-
truths however. They might just as
well be reversed. There can be no ac
tion without a thought behind it. But
lyoj can't voice a thought without
j words. Words are the tools of thought
: the weapons of the intellect. Word
wisdom is tnoughvwisdom. Deep
thoughts require deep words. This
proves that words are the masters of
all action of ail conduct.
The thought through the word pre
cedes the deed guides it controls it
Words are just as important as Heas
Thought without adequate expression
is void and empty. How beautifully
the scriptures express this ia Genesis
'.V d God said: 'Be light made. And
liKht vas made.'" And God said
"Let there be a firmament '
let the waters that are under the heav
en be gathered together let
th earth bring forth the green herb
b t there be lights in the frm
.menf In fact the words of the Dei
ty w ere His very acts o! creation. This
bas a marvelous significance once one
stops to think of it.
If words therefore play so impor
tant a part la thought and action why
is it that people in every day life do
not cultivate the use of words? Word
etudy would certainly get word-wit
uoiii thought pT)wer deed energv. A
dictionary should be a daily comrau
