The following are some of the
provisions of the Indian appropria
tion bill passed by the senate
which are of great importance to
the Indian Territory.
The secretary of the interior
authorized to sell at public sale in
tract's not exceeding 160 acres to
any one purchaser under rules
and regulations to be made by the
secretary the residue of land
in the Creek nation belonging to
the Creek Indians consisting of
500000 acres and being the residue
of land left over after allotments
of 1 60 acres to each of said tribe
and provided further that the sec
retary may in nis direction and
when he shall become satisfied be
youd question that the same is for
the best interest of the allottee
and ujHjn full investigation of each
individual case remove the restric
tion upon the sale or lease of allot
ed lauds of either of the five civi
lized trilx?s of Indians except the
restrictions upon the homestead
which shall not be affected hereby
ISO application for enrollment as
citizen or freedman except as
liirein provided of either the
Choctaw Chickasaw Cherokee
Creek or Seminole tribes of In
dians in the Indian Territory shall
be received by the commission to
the five civilized tribes after the
passage ot this act: Provided
that the said commission is hereby
uthorized for sixty days after the
date of the approval of this act to
receive and consider applications
for the enrollment of children horn
ince January 1 1896 and prior to
September 28 1902 to recognized
uul enrolled citizens of the Choc-
saw and Chickasaw tribes of In-
dians or born since January i

1902 to recognized and enrolled
citizens of Mie Cherokee nation.
To complete the townsite ap-
praisement and surveys in the In-
dian Territory under the provis-
ion of the act of June 28 1B9S
$25000. Provided that said work
shall xt completed on or before
July 1 1905.
Tor the purpose of placing al-
lotments in the Indian Territory
in exclusive possessson of their al-
lotments to be expended under
the direction of the secretary of ;
the interior $30000: Provided
that 110 portion of the money here-
in appropriated for the Indian
Tcrritry shall be paid to any per
son in tne bcrvice of the United
States until such person shall
make oath that he has no fii.aricial
interest with any person or corpo-
ration dealing in Indian lands in
the Indian Territory. Or indi-
rectly to purchase lease or have
any interest in any Indian lauds
in the distribution of which was
in any manner whatsoever uetulintr
in or before the branch of the gov-
ernment service in which such per-
son was employed until after the
expiration of two years from the
termination of such employment.
To enable the commissioner of
Indian affairs to aid in the enforce-
ment of the act of congress -approved
January 30 1897 entitled
"An act to prohibit the sale of in
toxicating drinks to Indians pro
viding penalties therefor and for
other purposes" $10000 to be
immediately available to be ex
pended by (he commissioner of In
dian affairs under (he direction of
the secretary of the interior in se
eiunig evidence against persons
suspected of having violated sak
act.

tion for cash" and all other lands
and deposits of like character in
