CONCERNING THE
"CURE."
FRIEDMANN
At the recent meeting of the Itlnxle
Island Medical society Dr. Karnes of
the Hhode Island State Sanatorium for
Tuberculosis presented a report on liis
results with the K riedniann vnrcinc.
It merely adds to the mass of informa-
tion that goes to make up the liera-
ture concerning Fried ma nn 'f. attempt
at exploiting the consumptive all of
wh'rh shows the Kriedmann treatment
to have no advantage over clhei
methods of treating tuberculosis;
more in all probability it. is a danger-
ous one. The medical profession has
until recently maintained toward this
product an uuiludo of reasonable sci-
entific skepticism. In view of the
lact however that it rectus impossi-
ble to find a single reliable favcrable
reKirt the time ha'i come for an end
to the hope that in the Kriedmann vac-
cine we have a cure for tuberculosis.
Moreover since the methods of c.-
Jdoitation have become so obviously
commercial with what seems to he
nn utter disregard for the humanitar-
ian viewpoint the time surely has
come for not only a definite stand
against the sale of this product but
for (Kisitive opposition to tin- methods
used by those financially interested in
its promotion. Kriedm;iui secured
the financial results which wide-spread
newspaper exhalation brought him
and slipped away leaving a host of
"Kriedmann institutes" to divide with
him the dollars of the too hopeful and
credulous sufferers. These "in-iti-
tutes" .ire being organized in variou
