Wir.KfisnAnnn I'n. Oct. 20. A largo
Hungarlnn boarding house at LaUrol
Run this county was blown to atoms
by tdynamllors yesterday morning
and three of tho Inmatos ktllcd out-
right fonr fatally injured and a half
dozen seriously hurt. Tho (lends who
planned the explosion did their work
well despite tho net Clint part of the
plan failed. They placed about twen-
tv four sticks of dynamite under the
building each being about nine
iin lies long and weighing about
t half a pound. A wire connected the
stcks with a battery about fifty
1 v irds away. When tho signal was
given only about half a doen of the
tlrKs exploded. They were sultl-
i nt however to completely wreck
tlie building- not a beam or plank of
which wns lcfct standing. Several of
in inmates who occupied beds on the
upper lloor wore hurled fifty feet In
the air some of them escaped fatal
injuries by alighting on tho tiees
near by. Half dazed by fear and
sleep they managed to hold on to
the limbs until they recovered their
sense and were able to reach th
ground.
A track walker who arrived on the
scene shortly after the explosion says
It resembled a battlefield. The cries
of tho injured wero heartrending.
Somo of them were in the trees;
others wero lying on tho ground and
undor thu debris of tho wrecked
building. Ono of tho boarders who
escaped Injury made his way to a
neighboring shanty and awoke the
inmates. Itlankets and bedding were
carried to the scene and the injured
made ns comfortable as possible.
At daylight tho officials of th
Lehigh Valley railroad were notified
and a special train with n number of
physicians wero hurried to the scene.
Tho doctors drossed the wounds of
the Injured who wero then brought
to tho hospital in this city. Tho
boarding boss hays he is nt a loss to
know what prompted tho dastardly
deed. As far (is lie knows he has no
enem!c3 in tho world. Somo of tho
boarders think tho motive was rob
bery us several of them were known
to have considerable money lu their
possession.
Michael Itollakovltch.the proprietor
of the boarding house was arrested
and sent to jail. Thu authorities say
they want him ns a witness. He had
money in his possession nnd on Satur-
day said to a friend ihat ho was going
to tho old country on Monday.
