IT'S UP TO US TO PLAY BALL
Say fellows we've been talking about this
commercial cJub business tor six months. The Star
and the Expes have written enough to stir the
nations to action- they have preached prayed plead
persuaded and exhorted the citizens of Chickasha to
get together and work together. Interested citizens
have talked the matter in office ond store and on the
streets. Nowisr't it time to cut out the talk and
get down to business? Shall we expend our energies
in mere talk without doing anything?
Tonight is the time to bring this preaching and
pleading to a close. It is the time for action. It is
up to us to "play ball" or get off the diamond and
say that Chickasha can't or won't do things. Are
we willing to admit that Chickasha can't do what
every other town of any consequence in the territory
j-i doing maintain a first-class town-building organ-
ization? Is it a fact that our people can't work
together for the common good? Are we going to
slumber on while others are awake and working?
Can we afford it will it pay?
It makes no difference if the commercial club has
made mistakes in the past: makes no difference if it
was not run to suit yon. You can get in line now
and help make it what you think it should be.
Every one is willing to listen to your suggestions.
If you know how to whoop'em up for the town
come out of your hole and get in the game.
Tonight will be a test of your loyalty to the
town. Are you willing to leave your home and
spend a few hours with your fellow town men talking
over the ''good of the order?"
Enough said you will be there. Commercial
club rooms 8 o'clock sharp.
MAIL ORDER PRINTING
The business man who sends away from his
home for his job printing when there is a well
equipped paper at home to do the work is in reality
encouraging the sending to mail order houses for all
that the people buy. It is also a fact that the man
win cm lot stand by and support home institutions
to the exclusion of all others cannot prosper to any
great extent and this fact is demonstrated over the
country a thousand times every year. We know pre-
tended newspaper men who have had the gall to say
to their readers that "It is a fact that the mail-order
houses sell a little cheaper than the home merchants"
and who yet have the cfceik logo to merchants even
oat side their own town and a.k the a for advertising
and job printing order. Their loom for the mail-
order house is made through absolute ignorance of
what tney are doing at the time bet it has had its
damaging effect and there is no reparation fcr i:."

OBSERVATIONS
We have observed
That the majority should rule only when it dose
not interfere with right.
That there is a difference between a right and a
pnmege.
That a right js divine a privilege human.
That many people have the right to do many
things that they have no privilege to do.
That many people have the privilege to do many
things they have no right to do.
That what is called "doing right" sometimes is
only doing what the majority approves.
That accepting the lesser of two evils is better
than to choose it.
That intolenance is the child of ignorance.
That there is no.persuasive powerjn wit.
That enthusiasm comes from within -excitement
from without.
That the continent of Thought has never been
fully explored.
That the empire of self is hard to govern. By
Observer.
The city assessor of Muskogee announces that
the total Uosessed valuation this year will exceed
$10000 oco an increase of $4500000 over last year.
It is claimed that the population of the city has in-
creased nearly fifty per cent in the same time.
Axd S. Howard Leech will make an efficient
secretary. Diligent systematic in his methods
public spirited an earnest worker at all times he is
fully qualified to discharge the duties of the office
upon which so much depends.
There are plenty of our citizens who are
qualified to fill the various offices in the commercial
club. Help pick the.best ones at the meeting tonight.
An interesting contest is in sight.
.
J. S. Browne will make a good president he
has always been one of the best workers for every
public enterprise. He is the kind of iaan that can be
depended upon.
Will you be there at the commercial club
meeting this evening? Do you want to make Chicka-
sha a larger city? Are you in earnest? Are you
willing to help?
We need good officers but more than this we
need a body of faithful men in the ranks. Vou can
be one of them.
j.
